Ok, here's the story...

Every year at the Long Beach Turkey Trot (on Thanksgiving morning)  PIES are awarded to random runners at the finish line. I have entered this race for three years in a row and have NEVER WON A STINKIN' PIE!

Not that I could eat the dumb pie, but still I want to win one. So come run with me there's a 5k, a 10k and even a 1/2 mile  Wing Ding for the kids.  (A great way to tire them out so you can rest later on)

If you begin trainging now, you could be ready by Thanksgiving Day by following the Couch to 5k training regimen: http://www.coolrunning.com/cgi-bin/moxiebin/bm_tools.cgi?print=181;s=2_3;site=1

There are THREE different starting times too!! Run or walk at 7:30, 8:30 or 9:30 am

Here is the link to register for the Turkey http://www.turkeytrot.us/

REGISTER EARLY FOR ONLY $20!!!!

There is also same-day registration which costs a little more if you're a procrastinator like me.

I want to do this! A friend of mine had told me about this over the weekend. You are such an inspiration, Monica! You were the one who got me thinking about even entering a 5k walk. So I did my first one in Hesperia over the weekend. Now I want to beat my time at the LB 5k on Oct. 11th, and now I want to do the Turkey Trot (is that like the Curley Shuffle? lmao). Thank you for being a role model. Who knows maybe one day I will do a half or full marathon. I am only 41, I have a lot of life yet! I am really looking forward to talking to you on Saturday!

Hugs, love, & friendship,

Michelle T.

It's addicting, isn't it??  You're always in a race against yourself to get better and faster.

I'm not that far behind you, I'm 37 and there are folks out there walking and running who are decades older then us.  It's never too late to do something good for your health.

Hope to see you there!

not that I don't think I can finish the 1/2 marathon, it's just that I don't think I have the attention span for it.  I think I might be able to stretch my patience for the 10k, so I'm gonna go for that.

There's no half marathon at the Turkey Trot, you might be thinking of the Long Beach Marathon....two different events.

Must've been reading too fast.  I thought that 1/2 mile said "1/2 marathon"  .... my mistake.
