Stall at 2.5 weeks post op, Really?
Wed will be 3 weeks post op.
I have lost 13 lbs since surgery. At just under 2 weeks I had reached that 13 lb lost but now I have not budged. What gives?
I did have some constipation but that seems to have subsided as of today.......going to add a stool softner to my pill regimen.
Is it common to stall so soon after surgery...it's a little scary.
There is no way I am getting in even near 800 cal a day. I am eating my meals out of a sauce cup they use in chinese restaurants for dipping. 1/4 c max and mostly protein (chicken or tofu, eggs).
I'm doing pretty good on protein.
Water is still a challenge but doing probably closer to 45 oz usually a day.
Having a protein latte in the a.m. to get in a start of 30 pro grams then trying to get it in food sources.....
any help appreciated

Hey Deb
No majic answer for you, except to ask are you still getting some exercise? Nothing heavy duty but at least walking? That will help with the constipation also.
I can only suggest you concentrate on the protein and getting in your water/liquids. (Obviously, vitamins are a given to be taken!). Unfortunately, the high dose of protein compounds the problem with constipation...but follow the doc's protocol as best you can. You might just be one of those who has a slow take-off after surgery. Be patient...the weight will come off...in spite of it not being as fast as you would like...I FULLY understand that!
I really enjoyed talking with you at the No Cali luncheon; sure hope you can make the Apple Hill trip. We should have a blast!
Wishing you the best and PM me anytime you want to talk! I know you will do great!

Hi Deb! you are doing great!!!
This is just the first of what will be many stalls... and starts. I know its a little daunting and hard to wrap your head around... but what helps me is to think of weight loss as steps... go down a few... then forward a few steps (like on a landing - I invision a sports stadium bleachers).. down a few more.. then forward - eventually you get at the bottom. My doctor, bariatric support group and countless people on here have reminded me that the body is changing so quickly it needs a little time to catch up and find its balance again (if you will) between the losses. Also, keep in mind that everyone is different, and everyone loses at different rates, and some of it I've read depends on how much you have to lose, if you have to lose a lot it seems to come off quicker vs. less and the weight coming off a bit slower. Don't worry, just make sure you are very careful to follow your doctor's protocol and your body will most definately shed the weight - just at its own pace.
I don't think its ever fast enough for us - we're all so ready to get rid of it! Wasn't/isn't fast enough for me either personally... but I am settling into, recognizing and coming to terms with my body's pace that its working at.. I've found some comfort in that :)
Keep up the hard work... you are doing GREAT! Hugs!

Yes it is normal. Everyone has their stalls at different times. Even tho my doctor yelled at me and told me that it was way to early, it happened to me at 3 weeks. I had lost 35 lbs the first month. Everyone goes through the same thing at so many different times. And as someone said this isn't the last one. Your body does it for so many different reasons, but it will break and you will be on the losing side. Up the liquids, drink tea, coffee, crystal light, sugar free popcicles also count as liquids and I think you will break the stall. It's really important for so many reasons, and it will help your bathroom issues too.
Don't fret about it, you are doing what everyone else has gone through.
Good luck, Diane

Thanks for your assurance Diane. I am upping my liquids as much as i can. I'm going to go away for a few days and stay off the scale and try and just relax for a few days by the beach.
Hopefully my body will get with it. My son is also brining my eliptical out of storage so hopefully I can start getting some serious exercise. My belly area is still sore though especially by about 4 oclock or so.
THanks for the input,....i really appreciate it.

I have to agree with everyone especially Diane.....We all hit stalls and some are sooner than others. I only lost 1 stupid pound the first 1 1/2 after surgery. The next 7 months were an e ticket ride but then hit a stall and it lasted for over a month and a half. It finall broke last week but I fear that it will be there when I weigh in Wed. You should increase that protein intake though. My doctors protocol is 80 to 100 grams a day.
Our bodies are constantly adjusting after the surgery.......Dont worry, it will start peeling off. But as Diane said, you need to up the fluid intake and you have to excersise even if its just walking around the block. You have to keep moving......
Have a great day......Rick

You are scaring me with the protein though............. I would have to do 3 supplements to get that amount in a day.....then i dont know how I would eat anything. Im eating high protein foods. My fish filets are 100 calories with 17 grams of protein and shrimp etc.....im trying but i thought 50-60 was doing good
are you sure thats not a male requirement as opposed to females? Do females need that much, too?
thanks Rick

Hi Deb,
It is not just a male requirement. My doctor wants be at 90 grams of protein. They base it on the height/final weight of the person. I haven't had surgery yet, but I am having it this month and I am only at 75-80 grams. I still need to get it up!
My nutritionist says that women should be at a minimum of 60-80 grams. Talk with your Dr/nutritionist & find out what they want you at.
