I am cancelling my revision surgery!!!!!

I met with Dr. Crookes out at USC yesterday.  He does his own endoscopy's.  He is convinced that he can fix the problem without having to jump right into a revision.  He said that most GI doctors are too conservative as far as how far they will stretch me.  The largest I was stretched was 15mm.  He said I should have been stretched to 20mm.  I told him my fear of being stretched too big.  He said he totally understands the fear, but after explaining everything to me in full detail. I don't feel scared....I feel hopefull.  He is sure that the nasty ulcers are a huge part of the problem too, but he is willing to give it a shot.  Now I just have to convince my IPA (medical group) to authorize it.  I figured they would rather pay for another endoscopy VS another RNY.  However he also said that if he HAD to do a revision.....his first choice would still be RNY.  Anyways. thank you all for the support you continue giving.  I will keep you updated on whats next.  But as of right now.  I am calling Dr. Chins office today to cancell my surgery for Oct 21st.  and who knows, I may be able to eat real food by thanksgiving

I am so happy that you got some positive news! I will be keeping you in my thoughts and praying that your IPA will authorize it. I hope this stretching to 20mm will do the trick, once and for all. You so deserve to have real food by Thanksgiving!

Thank you all so much..... I am more optimistic now than I have in the past year.  I FEEL that it's going to work this time.  I am so comfortable with the thought that he is a Bariatric Surgeon as well and a GI doc too.  He will really know what he is looking at.   Yay!!!!
