Road Trip-Apple Hill

Morning again Cali gang
I've posted my pics at Photobucket of our adventure to Apple Hill yesterday.  I hope everyone had as much fun as Lon and I did.  Tasted some really good food at Abel's Apple Ranch; Barb and Ron were even able to snag a 'private gazebo' for us to eat in LOL  Ms V got to ride a pony...sorry I didn't get down to the pasture Delores to get pix but I got 'weigh-laid' by the vendors ;-)  Ms V also got the cutest bumble bee face painting...you'll see in the pix.  We lost Delores for a couple of hours...that girl is so tiny she slipped right by me and we didn't catch up with her until dinner, which was wonderful at Tortilla Flats in Placerville.  Tami bought some delicious looking banana bread, apple bread...some kind of bread for her trainer (now that is loyalty!) and some wonderful looking apples on a stick in various toppings for her kids (I think it was).  And Barb bought the most adorable chain-sawed Cal Bear for Ron...he is a Berkeley alumni after all (Go Bears!).  Michael and Rachel took off after lunch and from what we heard, she walked poor Michael all over Placerville before dinner.  She even parked 2 blocks from the restaurant and walked!  Talk about dedication to using her tool!  She looks fabulous by the way!!  We finished up with dinner around 7pm and Michael, Rachel, Barb and Ron headed up the road to Pollack Pines to spend the nite at the Best Western...what a great way to end a great day...with friends.  Delores and Ms V were headed for Folsom (that girl looooves to shop---hitting the outlet mall today LOL) and Tami followed Lon and me out to Hwy 50 for the trip back down the hill.

If you haven't been to Apple Hill, which consists of about 100 apple farms and ranches, you must plan a trip.  While the traffic can be hectic..especially with Cal Trans resurfacing Hwy 50 in a couple of places, which slowed traffic down considerably...leaving early in the morning and using the shuttle to get to the different venues..the trip is still a lot of fun and totally worth the experience.  Of course, you do have to watch out for the occasionally crazy driver who thinks he doesn't have to follow the 'road rules' and drive on his OWN side of the road. LOL  Just because the line of cars is toooo many for his taste, and they are turning to get on the freeway and he is going straight, it does not mean he can use the on-coming lane to pass them (and he has a DOUBLE line)!  And if you are wondering who I mean...I'm MARRIED to 'him'!! LOL   And he has the nerve to complain about California drivers!!  ;-) But then Lon does turn our trips into adventures...I never know what side road or diversion he is going to throw in for us to try out. LOL

Anyway..please try out the link below and let me know if it works.  I'm such a nerd at this things I'm never sure if I posted it correctly.

Great pics Nancy! I can always count on you and Barb to capture all the fun we have :-). I had a blast yesterday...I was sooo tired by the time I got home last night but at least there was no traffic by the time we left.
Take care everyone,

Nancy,

Great pics!  I can't believe I forgot my camera!  LOL.  We had such a great time with everyone yesterday.  Ron and I got back to the motel and I promptly feel asleep at 8pm and was out for the count until 7:30 a.m. this morning.  I was exhausted!

I hope the trip to Stanford was a good one for you guys.

Glad everyone got home well and we're for sure gonna have to do this again next year.

Hugs,
Barb

Thanks Nancy for posting the pics!  What a wonderful day.  We too headed back and were zonked out early... but got up early too for a wonderful hike 5.5 miles at Jenkinson Lake.  We caught mists on the lake, saw lots of wildlife, and the colors of the turning leaves and smell of evergreen were exactly what I needed to recharge my batteries.  We had a lovely weekend and were so happy to be included with friends.  Yep.. I did walk and then hike poor Michael all over the place... literally... but he loved every minute of it!  I got a huge blister on my left heel from the new hiking shoes.. but man oh man was it worth it!!! and now that they are broken in.. they're keepers!!!

I took a mental health day at work yesterday and hit the pool in the morning for a long swim, and then shopped until I almost dropped... went to Sunvalley Mall and Target..... was really nice to have some extra time!

I also got my manager this afternoon to agree to a little later day so I can have 2 whole hours at the gym in the mornings... Michael will just have to wait an extra half hour for me to get home in the evenings.. but I figure it will be dark out soon after work anyway!..... My manger was super accommodating because she said she sees the amazing changes in me and wants to support me... I almost cried with joy!

Love and Hugs to all of you!  Can't wait for the next adventure!!!
