Hi everyone.  I have no idea what everyone is talking about because I am way too new but I did go to Tom's Farm which was pretty scary knowing no one and going by myself, but I did have a great time and really want to meet more people.  I am willing to drive pretty much anywhere whenever I am available.  I want to get in the middle so when it starts getting real I have people I can reach out to to help me stay and become an old timer.  I just started posting to this board about 2-3 weeks ago but am looking forward to becoming a regular and meeting more of you so please plan things.  I need to hear about your experiences not just online but face to face too.

I say the past is the past.  But, we can make the present whatever the heck we want to make it.  Things change. People change. That is life.  So, let's make a new beginning.

I heart you girl!  ;-)

I agree with all that you are saying.  I am part of that too, and it makes me sad that I am.  There are people on here that are mean and aren't doing anything but spread crap.   I know that one thing that has changed a lot on here, is the newbies, they appear tell us that they had surgery and then they are gone.  We don't get to know anyone any longer.  People come and go.  I loved the last suppers, and I loved how we used to do so many things.  I am sure that if we had party for marathon runners again, there would not be 100 people that show up.  I will never forget that day.  So as Lola said, let's start anew. I all for it.  I still will have my friends on here, but I won't be saying anything about it. I apologize if I have hurt anyone by my past behavior, but I still consider the majority of you my friends.

I wonder sometimes......do they appear and leave so quickly because we're not offering them anything?  We're not giving them a reason to stay and fit in?  I'm not sure....but I think that partly might be so.  This board used to be so much more than the others.  A lot of us considered this place part of our family.  I think the "activities" and "meet ups" were part of making this a place where people wanted to stick around for awhile.  So....what are we gonna plan Diane?  :-)

I think we SHOULD have a running party for you and anyone else that is doing the LA MARATHON, from fatty to doing something only most of us dream of, deserves to be honored!  I am not sure you were ever a fatty....but hell, look at you now, and what you have achieved. You are a great role model to so many!

As far as the newbies, I will use Leslie as an example.  She has stuck around, and if she was here before surgery, I think that we would have given her a party.  She comes in here, introduces herself and becomes a part of the board.  I don't think we offered her anything different that we would anyone else, but she makes a great effort to partake in events and keeps on the boards with her problems and comments.  We are always there for the support no matter who it is.  I find alot of people here are tending to be self serving, it's all about them, they try to make every post about them.  They need to realize that life does not revolve around them, it revolves around this group of supporters.  There will ALWAYS be personal issues on here, and not everyone is going to like everyone else, hell there are times I don't even like myself, so how could I love all.  Butr overall I think we do have the skills to become what this place once was.  At least I am willing to give it a great try!

Hugs 2 u Kirsten.   D

Yes, there are and will be personal issues here.....as well as everywhere else in life.  If I stayed away from every place I enjoy because there are people who I don't like, I'd become a hermit.  There are crazy people everywhere....At work, at my son's games, in my marathon training program.  I just choose who I will be socially polite to, and who I will have a friendship with and allow further into my life.  Either way I choose, I will support.

I think what made it so much easier in the "old days" was that there were always events going on.  Made it easier to really get to know people in real life.....and not just a screen name on the board.  I found OH during a time in my life where I was "cleaning house" so to speak.  People in my life who were not 100% good FOR me, were written off.  All these events that took place gave me an opportunity to get out.....celebrate my new life....and meet some wonderful new friends.
