...and the WOWs just keep on coming!
Maybe Im just a little homesick, or maybe its because the weather outside is too darn cold to go anywhere (28 degrees and snowing)....but I miss my OH friends!! Happy New Year from Berlin, Germany!
This trip has been a dream come true and I am SO GLAD that I got to visit Europe and even happier that I did it at a healthy weight. Never could I have done this much travelling while being obese.
I have walked, walked, walked, EVERYWHERE. Under the Eiffel Tower, thru the Vatican, into the Sistine Chapel, down the streets of Florence on New Years Eve, thru castles, palaces, museums and open markets. When people stare at me I assume its because Im a fumbling American and not because Im a big ol fat girl. I have climbed up into top bunks in a few hostels, ran up stairs, dragged my suitcases that are only getting heavier everyday with souvenirs. I bought clothes in stores in normal sizes, flirted with waiters, fit in between little tables at cafes, sprinted to catch subways and busses and none of it would have ever been possible without WLS.
Oh, and because I cant eat so much I have been saving some money. I shared a meal with two other tiny skinny girls in Italy and we were thrilled to get some fresh veggies....I noticed that I eat much like them. Small portions, healthy choices, and I never thought that would ever be me. Now if only I was tiny like they were.... oh well. :)
To be honest I have had my share of guilty treats, prosecco, escargot, frog legs, bagguettes, crepes, wine, brie, wine, mulled wine, schnitzel, swiss chocolates, gnocci, pizza, bratwurst, did I mention wine? But all of it in small portions....no dumping so far! (fingers crossed!)
Anyhow, its all just another WOW-reminder that I am not the same. Not only do I eat differently, but LIFE is different and SO MUCH BETTER.
I will be home soon, I cant wait to see Kirsten, and celebrate her birthday....someone will have to bring me up to date on all the drama around here.
Ciao!
