Hello everyone I'm still getting used to the site and trying to navigate myself around it's a little difficult since i am no were near being computer savy lol.

Well today is day six of my pre-op diet and to my surprise i stepped on the scale and I've lost 8 pounds just seeing that keeps me motivated just 3 more weeks of this to go. For some reason I have to do my pre-op diet for a total of 4 weeks, did anyone else have to do their pre-op diet for so long?

Welcome to the boards. 4 weeks of a preop diet. What does it consist of? Lucky for me, I didn't have to do one, just clear liquids the day before surgery. Good luck on the next 3 weeks, but sounds like you are off to a great start. We will be keeping a seat warm for you on the loser's bench.

Juanita,

Welcome to the Cali board.  We're so glad you decided to join us.  As for me, I had to do a pre-op liquid diet for a week.  Each surgeon is TOTALLY different and you will most likely get 10 different answers from 10 different people.  It is always a good idea to do exactly what your surgeon says for you as pre and post op programs are again TOTALLY different.  But think of the weight you'll lose pre-op that you won't have to lose post-op!  The other thing is that this time before surgery is always a good time to get in the swing of creating healthy habits for post surgery.

Great job and keep up the hard work,!  This new healthy lifestyle is a wild ride and one you're going to enjoy for sure.

Hugs,
Barb

Welcome to the Cali Board, you have come to the right place.  Everyone is great here.  I only had to do a liquid pre-op diet for 2 days, but I have heard a lot of other people have had to do it 4 weeks.  I think it has something to do with shrinking the liver.  Good Luck and keep us posted.

My pre-op diet was just no starches, that lasted for about a month and a half, then the day before surgery was liquids.

Well, I ate a lot of meat and cheese, and beans. One thing my wife starting making was seasoned ground beef, pinto beans and cheese, she ate it also so I wouldn't feel too bad. I did mess up a few times and had some pizza or a tortilla, I know it is really hard to not eat starch, it's in all the good stuff.
