I just had surgery on the 7th

So, I had my surgery on the 7th, it was supposed to be the 6th, but I got a call at 8am on the 6th and the hospital told me they had to cancel the surgery because the hospital was out of beds and I had to call the surgeon to reschedule. Well, I called the hospital back and explained to them that this was the only time I could take off work and they were able to schedule it on the 7th, even though the surgeon doesn't usually operate on Thursdays, I am very grateful that they got it scheduled. So here I am a few days out from RNY and feeling much better. I'm drinking a lot more fluids and some protein shakes. Things are going well. To make things even better...When I started the liquid diet on the 5th( I had 2 days of liquids), I was 335.6, today I am 323.2. I know most of the weight is jus****er, but I was able to put on a shirt that I haven't worn in months. Things are going well. I won't lie and say it has been easy, it was much worse than I had imagined it would be. The gas pain was incredible. Rick_soCal came to visit me on the 8th, it was really nice to meet him and have his support. Thanks Rick. For the pre-ops, it is hard, it is painful, but it is worth it. Plus, the pain medicine is fantastic!!!

Congrat's, Daniel!

You're gonna feel a bit better every day for a while... even better when the weight really starts falling off you're going to be amazed! Hang in there and make really good strong habits now, the less you compromise yourself from the beginning the happier and more successful you'll be in the long run!

Hi Dan,

Glad to see you out of the hospital and feeling better. Just remember to take it slow and easy for the first few weeks my friend and dont over do it. You must keep walking around to keep that gas and blood moving around and out of your system. Seems that you are on the right track especially with the fluid intake which is vital.

Was great meeting you and your wife at the hospital last week. I know she will keep you on track with the fluids . I swear wives go to secret meetings with our doctors to keep us going especially with fluids. But trust me, it is well worth it in the long run.........Let us know if you need anything.

Have a great day.........Rick

I am so glad that they got you in to have the surgery.  It is so hard to wait and then tell you the day before that they are canceling the surgery.  Congratulations on your surgery and good luck with your new lifestyle.

If you have any questions come to this board. Everyone is so nice and so encouraging.

Daniel,

Welcome to the loser's bench!  That's fantastic that they got you in the next day and that you are feeling well.  Each day will get better and better and just remember to keep on track of all they tell you to do.  You're gonna love this ride, it's the best.

Hi Daniel,

Welcome to the world of weight loss. I had my surgery last May and I am close to joining the century club. I feel better when I walk, I feel lighter in my step. So far it's been worth the adversity.

I had horrible gas too at first. I was so worried I'd feel like that all the time, but it went away as I was able to move more.  I think it took a few weeks for painful gas to go away. Unfortunately, the gas has never completely gone away :-)

Hang in there and keep checking in here. I agree that the pain meds were great!
