Hey guys...Well it's been a little over 4 years since I had surgery.

Fast forward to 2010....Here's the run down on my WLS experience.

1.  One year later after surgery, I had a blockage of some kind (docs were not able to diagnose what it was) but it freak'n hurt.  I looked sick and tired because I dropped toooo much weight.  Between 2007 and 2009, I went to ER a zillion times for abdominal PAIN!!!!!!!!!!!

2.  Today, I feel so much better....I have gained healthy weight and I'm below my goal.

3.  I would have surgery over and over again and recommend it to those who ask me about it.

4.  I have sky dived, gone on rollercoasters, am able to tie my shoes, and am very active these days at the gym.

5.  Social life?  It's changed A WHOLE LOT!!!!!

6.  Had the confidence to interview with other companies and have landed great roles.

7.  Now, Anna and I are ready for a new challenge.....Alanis Rose is on her way and is due on July 8th.

8.  ...............Oh,  thank you Anna for taking me to ER at all hours of the day!!!

9.  Thanks OH community for the ongoing support....Gotta love the drama

Yay Gus

You rock my friend.  Congrat's on a wonderful achievement with your WLS.  Now your new challenge is fast approaching.  Alanis Rose will be the luckiest girl to have you and Anna as parents.  I just know the two of you are going to be awsome.

As for the drama, well it is everywhere around us.  We just have to choose to partake or just sit back, watch, laugh and yes, even eat that popcorn.

Congrat's Again.

Love you much, my friend.  I can't believe it's been this long.  I met you and Anna the first time at John's funeral, God rest his soul.  I remember thinking what a beautiful couple you two were.  That was a time before Mike and I officially "got together".  You were getting ready for surgery and had all kinds of questions.  I remember seeing you a short time after surgery and how excited you were that night when you fit into the booth at the restaurant we all went to to see Lee and Nadine doing Karaoke. And look at you now.  The poster boy for how to live after WLS.  I'm so proud of you.  You have done well.

And now on to a new chapter.  Parenthood for both of you.  I can't wait to meet Miss Alanis Rose. "Auntie Steph" will want to spoil that little one rotten.  And then hand her back to her parents.   Ahhhh...it will be so much fun. And what amazing parents you will be. She is one lucky little lady to get you two for a mommy and daddy.

Congratulations buddy on 4 years.

Love you,
Steph

Hi Gus,

You have been such an inspiration over the past year and a half.  I love reading your post.  I am so happy to hear that you are no longer having problems.  Had to be frustrating beyond belief to have had to go to the ER so much and not have them find the problem.  It' funny tho what you said about "you would do it all over again"  even with all my stricture problems, perforated intestines....emergency revision surgery....I would SO do it over again too.  Life is so much better being a healthy weight.  I know what you mean about roller coaster rides.  It's so nice knowing that I will be able to fit on all the rides now.  In fact I am going to go horseback riding next weekend too.  I won't have to worry about whether they will have a big enough horse for me... This WLS was the best thing I could have done to jump start my life.

Congratulations on your success and thank you for continuing on inspiring others.  Congratulations to you and Anna on your baby.  I am so happy and excited for you.

Gus,

Congrats on your 4 years of getting through it all and being more healthy on happy on the other end. I enjoy your posts and love hearing about thephysical activity you're doing. It inspires me to move so I too can lose!

I would do this surgery over too despite some of the harder moments and days. I just hope I can take better advantage of this tool.

Keep posting all the good stuff you do! It helps us all a lot.
