PS Consult in Mexico w/Dr. Q.

Yep ... biting the bullet and going to see Dr. Q for a consult mid-November. As much as I liked Dr. Katzen, I don't have $40k to drop on my less-than-stellar boobs.

My question isn't so much about what to expect, cost, etc. It's more ... what docs do i need to get in/out of Mexico. I'm reading "passport" ... then "no, just DL/BirthCert" ... then "no BOTH!"

Also, any rec's on a good hotel to stay that's near by? My sister and I talked tonight about making it a sister trip. When she heard TJ she was all gung ho for the shopping. Any tips, suggestions, and an answer to the ID question would rock my socks!

Thx!

I'm sure Kirsten or Janel or Kim will chime in with the hotel and ID info for you! I thought you had to have a passport, but I don't know for sure!  And I can't remember the name of the hotel that most people that use CosMed go to. I know it is in San Ysidro and there is a shuttle from the hotel to CosMed and back. I was there with Kirsten, so if she doesn't see this, ask her!
As for CosMed, you will love it there!! Everyone is so nice and Dr. Q is a HOTTIE!!!!   lucky you, I'm jealous!!!

You are going to luv Dr. Quiroz.  I stayed at Hotel Lucerna, Janel & Kirsten also stayed there.  It's close to CosMed, you could walk there if you wanted to.  It's a nice hotel and they have a nice restaurant, the food was excellent.  As far as the boarder, passport is best but they are still excepting ID w/birth certificate.

Hey Missy,

Ype, hotel Lucerna is nice, and just a few blocks from the clinic. Tell them you are with Cosmed and you get a discount. Nice, clean, and good food! Their taco soup and fruit plates were my favorites!

You need ID (I had a passport, but I hear that DL & Birth Cert are sufficient). I did hear something about that may be changing soon, so ask Cosmed and they can let you know.

For shopping, you want to go down to the Revolutione.....you can get 'killer" tacos 3/$1!! Any cab can take you there. Just do it in the daylight hours. Don't venture out on your own after daylight hours, it's not a good idea...too much going on down there right now.

Tell Dr Q I said hello..........I miss all of them so much, they are like my family!

Like everyone has said , Hotel Lucerna is the way to go.  When booking your room, make sure that you ask for a non-smoking room on the back side of the property (behind the pool).  Otherwise, you will hear all of the traffic (and there is a lot of it) if you are on the front side of the hotel.  Whenever you call there (or if you are there and are calling for room service), and someone answers the phone in Spanish, say "Hablo Ingles" and they will put someone who speaks English on the phone.  You can walk to Cosmed (10 mins).  Be very vigilant abou****ching the traffic while you are in the streets; the cars are slow to stop.  After surgery, I would take a cab; you just won't be in any condition to dodge traffic walking hunched over.

Good luck.

You'll LOVE Dr. Q!!! Tell him Kim from the desert says hello! I had my surgery on 7/4. FBL w/anchor-cut, BL w/augmentaion, fat injections to butt. I'm exceptionally happy with his work and would go through the experience all over again although it hurt like hell. But in the end worth it!!! The BL w/ aug. seems nearly painless in comparison with a full body lift.

Yes, Hotel Lucerna... discounted rates. Great hotel and close to CosMed. Don't stay at the Best Western in San Ysidro as it's a filthy dump with spiders in their beds and dripping faucets in main sleeping area. Although they have a free shuttle to Dr. Qs (CosMed).

For now a birth cert. and dl. is all you need if driving, although come January it may change to passports only. I had a passport and had no problem crossing multiple times for follow-up.

The traffic and driving is INSANE!!! They have several roundabouts on the 1 1/2 mile trek into TJ to CosMed. People drive like maniacs there, so be warned. Even the locals complain about the driving.

Eggface has a bunch of information on her blog.

Good luck!

I'm a sister too right =) well I know I'm a sista, lol!!  If I'm not mistaken still in 2008 you don't need a passport YET.  But I do believe your DL/BirthCert ohhh and if the names don't match you need a marriage license...I think.

Oh can we go into downtown and get drunk.  I used to party in TJ way to many times to mention, lol.

Ditto to what everyone else said.  I didn't neet DL and birth cert...passport was all they asked for but I don't know what the actual requirement is.

Hotel Lucerna - make sure you ask for the discount rate for Dr. Quiroz.  I think it was $89/night.  They have excellent fruit trays through room service!

Good luck!
