My 1/2 marathon

Hello One and All….

Let me tell you about my ½ marathon. OMG! I will say this. My Dr. seems to know what he is talking about it. He was so right when he told me it would hurt like a MF if I ran this race. Jerk! I think he wished that on me.

The day was great for running, The weather was very nice, not to cool at the start and it never got very hot.

There was a time limit for the first 4 miles, so I pushed hard to get past that. We done 4 miles in 58:12, after that, I put in easy drive and walked pretty much the rest of the race. We did jog now and again just for a change. At miles 6.5 the biking bunch was there yell and carrying on for us. (Liz, Chuck, Kirsten and Kevin) It was like having Celeste and Gary at mile 19, only without the food. But my BFF, Liz gave me her pain meds that she had for her ouchie (her story to tell) The Tylenol helped a lot. Thank you so much Liz, You rock! At mile 9 (I think) I stopped in the aid center and got an ice pack for my back, and boy did that help a lot. Some where around 11, I wanted to quiet and just lay down. But I knew if I did that, I would not get up and finish what I started. Which we all know is against my grain. Between 11 and 12 I hurt so bad, I could not even keep water down. If I snipped, up it would come. So I stopped at the aid station again and got some more Tylenol, and second ice pack. It was enough for me to finish the race. My time is 4:15 or there about.

You just read the about the pain, now how about some disappointment? They ran out of medals. So Cyndi and I didn’t get one. (And tons of others) Some of the runner in the shuttle with us going back to the hotel finished 3:50 and they didn’t get any either. What we did get was a number to call and have sent in the mail. OK good I get it, but its just not the same. You know?

Because my back was in so much pain, I was running weird and now my knee is hurting worst then my back. Oh great. But I am sure that will be fine with some rest.

OK that’s my story.

I hope you all had a great weekend.

LL, you are crazy...  Congratulation!!!
That is so cool that you finish in just over 4 hours.  WAY TO GO!!!!!!!!!    I am so happy for you...I couldn't imagine doing a 1/2 marathon.  I sure hope you're not in to much pain...take a nice warm bath and soak for awhile, maybe that will help,  That is so wired they ran out of medals.  You would think they would have one for everyone that registered for the race.  At least you'll get one in the mail, but you're right it is not the same...

Well, Congratulations....and take care of yourself..

Michele,

Thank you for your support. This morning the pain is not as bad as I thought it would be. YAY!! But I did soak in the bath for a bit, so maybe that helped.

I wish you a great day.

Yap, I finished!! That was the plan the whole time. Of course I think the other runners cheated, and took taxi's or something because the winner of the marathon (26.2 miles) done it in like 2:20 or something like that. So he must have got a taxi. Next time I am going to trip him. LOL

Thank you for the support. Have a wonderful day.

That is Awesome that you finished the race!  I am very proud of you.  Now that you are not able to do the running anymore, are you allowed to walk them?  I would like to join you in a 5k if you walk another one of those, just to say that I did.  I don't think I am up for 26 miles though.  I am good for about 8 and that is it.  lol.  Will we see you at the support group on Sunday?  Have a great day and don't work too hard.

Hey girl,

Congratulations YOU did it!!  Doesn't it feel good AFTER the fact??  I did my 5K and then did 60 minutes on the treadmill today.  I have to get my endurance up cause my 1/2 Marathon is December 7th =)

You have inspired me...you all do!!
