prilosec/omeprazole question

Hi all y'all!

In the business of that past several weeks I've fallen behind in my vitamins - well, ok.. so I missed the last several weeks. I'm back on board now, but made kind of and insteresting discovery... it appears that I don't need my prilosec/omperazole any more.

Dr. Zorn prescribed if for me a month or two after my RNY because I was having some pouch pain when I ate... at the time he said I might be on it for a few months to a year. Well, I haven't had the omperazole in at least 3 weeks and have experienced no pain. I decided to take it out of my daily vitamins - I'll save it just in case the pain eventually comes back.

Another kind of weird thing is that since I've stopped taking the omeprazole I'm not able to eat as much - I'm feeling that "full" feeling faster - no pain, just full !

Does anyone know if prilosec/ompeprazole inhibits those "full" feelings that we learn to sense as noobies???

I was excited to be off one more pill but since realizing this I'm even more excited... I'm eating a lot less! Yee haw!

Actually, if you are feeling more full without a PPI, this could be an indication that you do actually have some acid issues even if the pain is gone. I know that sometimes when I forget my prilosec, I get a kind of stuck feeling and I can't eat as much at each meal.

You should probably check with your surgeon and see what he says. Acid reflux can increase the risk of ulcers in RnY patients so it's nothing to mess with.

I also missed my Priolosec for a few weeks and felt full sooner BUT in the last three days I have been having pouch pain.  I have never vomited or truly dumped but I dont test the waters either.  Been reading posts about ulcers and acid.  Started on them again today.
