IT a Happy Turkey Day to all of you!
Okay be honest...who is up cooking already or laying in bed thinking they should get up and start the holiday meal? Come on....I am not alone here on the boards! LOL
Happy Thanksgiving to all of you...and just think we do not have to eat until we are in a coma with a pants undone, groaning....promising not to do this again...go on a crash diet before Christmas...only to feel like a failure and gain more weight...you all know the vicious cycle we went through prior to wls!
Today is a day of giving thanks for all the wonderful things and people who are in our lives...it is not about the food...remember that!
However given that....last night I made 8 dozen smoked salmon ravioli's for today...it is a tradition of my holiday meals. I know they taste good, but my jeans taste better! I am cruising around for my holiday and have no more cooking to do as that was my contribution. It feels odd that I am not doing the holiday meal, but that is okay. My kids are busy with their "other" families...so mom gets the left overs. Nice eh?
Please keep Luana's sister in your prayers today even though I know you all have a lot going on.
To all of you...have a super splendid day with whomever you choose to spend the day with. Let the family stuff roll off your back and enjoy your day!!!!

i just want to say i'm gonna tell my family about my surgery and if they got anything bad to say they can say it to them selves... i am very thankful for my family and my rny it's changed my life...
ok off to the store
i hope everyone has a great thanksgiving ..
ps don't forget to take those vitamins and plenty of water!!!
I am glad you made a decision you are comfortable with about telling your family. If your family cant understand, then it is their problem. As I have learned over the last almost 2 years it was my decision, my smart decision, no one else needs to approve of it and really their opinion doesnt matter!!! As for any comments just figure they are uneducated about RNY, try to teach if you want or just ignore them.
No matter what have fun and enjoy your family!!

Far away there in the sunshine are my highest aspirations.
I may not reach them, but I can look up and see their beauty,
believe in them, and try to follow where they lead.

I wont be doing much in the way of cooking today. I will do what I can to help, but I can only do so much. Mom cant do much either, dad and papa, well they are useless, so it mostly falls on granma. Mom did as much as she could ahead of time so it wouldnt be too much. Mom said this Thanksgiving, with her new band seems strange. She said she now understands how it had been for me last year. I just reminded her it is all about family and being thankful we are together. Even if we both take lots of naps during the day, lol.
Tomorrow is heaven day, the drains come out, the binder I came home from surgery in comes off, I can hopefully take a full shower and wear the support garmet I bought which will fit me much better. I cannot wait until 930 tomorrow. Dad says he wants to take me, UGH, but as long as I get there I do not care!!!
I hope everyone has a terrific day, filled with love, friends, family and blessings!!! Be good to yourselves and those around you.
Most of all remember I am very Thankful for all of you!!!!

Yup, I work today ... And tomorrow. But they are City holidays, so I'm getting double-time and therefore I am not complaining! Plus, I have all the rest of the holidays off, so I think it's a good trade-off. We're having a potluck and I'm sure there will be a ton of food that I can't eat, but I'm not complaining about that either because .....
I am so, so thankful for my RNY and the progress I have made in the last six and a half months. And no amount of Thanksgiving or any other holiday food could take the place of that.
I'm also thankful for the friends I've made here on the boards and that everyone is so supportive and open and honest about their experiences. I honestly do not know what I would do without this website.
Have a great Turkey Day! And to those of you crazy people who are going shopping at 4:00 or 5:00 tomorrow morning ... I wish you the best of luck in the crowds and I hope the deals are worth all of the insanity!

Thanks Janine and Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours! We bought our dinner from Vons and will go and pick it up around noon. It's just going to be Tim and I, most likely, he caught the creepin crud and is on the mend. We were supposed to have friends over, but we told them he was sick and they said, "Uh, thanks, but no thanks!" LOL So, it'll just be he and I and I'm perfectly ok with not having to be the hostess with the mostess...LOL I think I've talked Tim into bringing the Christmas stuff up from the garage and starting to decorate tonight. He's off tomorrow and I'm heading back to work, bummer, but it's ok, I'll bring all the leftovers in and share so they won't be in the house to tempt...plus, it'll be quiet and I'll get some projects done that keep getting put on my back burner.
Remember Lu and her family and especially her sister in prayer today,
Enjoy the time with your famiy and or loved ones! xo Kim

I had to set the alarm since D and I have a busy morning and need to get moving fairly early. Mom and Brother Walter are hosting Thanksgiving dinner at their place this year. D and I are the party planners and we will be off about 8am to pick up pies at Marie Callendars and take tables, dinnerware and decorations to Moms. After we unload and set up everything we'll head back here to relax for a bit then get cleaned up and head back over to help prepare the meal and greet the guests. It looks like it is going to be a nice, cool autumn day which should be perfect for roasting a turkey!

So I haven't read the board or posted for a couple of days as we were working to ready the office for the arrival of the baby grand piano Tuesday and then trying to go through all the "stuff" we emptied out of the office to see what goes back and what gets packed away and what gets donated to charity. 15 years of "stuff"..... wow.....
Anyway I have posted some pictures of the piano in a album on my profile. If you'd like to check it out click here:
DARRELL'S PIANO
It is curing at this point for a week and then will get tuned next Wednesday at which point D can get down to business and practice those Christmas Carols for holiday sing alongs!

On another note please keep Lu's sister Didi in your thoughts and prayers this Thanksgiving Day as it is very touch and go right now for her. Lu and her family need your positive vibes on this special, frightening day for them. My heart is breaking that they are having to go through this, especially on this holiday of family and thanksgiving.

Be thankful as you go about your business today for everything you have.... your life, your health, your family, friends and all the other things that bring meaning and purpose into your life. I know I will be, especially when I think of Didi and Lu today. It's all a blessing.... the good, the bad and the routine that makes up the fabric of our lives.

I'd like to once again wish each and every one of you a blessed and beautiful Thanksgiving Day 2008..... I am blessed to be part of this wonderful community and thankful I found you all. You have enriched my life more than you know.

Happy Thanksgiving Janine and Cali!
Continued prayers for Lu, DD, and the rest of the family in this extremely difficult time of uncertainty.
Today we are double dippin on the Thanksgiving. First, we are heading down to Solvang to Sam's grandma's for "lunch" at her place. They put on the greatest spread and the majority of it is WL friendly! no worries there. Then it's back home and over to my Mom's for dinner. The meals are actually perfectly spaced for me. We will also likely visit with some friends in the afternoon for a little while too. I made the pumpkin pie to take to my mom's and its LF and LS and no one will even be able to tell. hehehehe.
Hope everyone enjoys their day! Please take a moment today and reflect on all you are greatfull for. That is what this day is truely all about.
Hugs,
Sue
