I have to have a lumpectomy!!
Michelle,
Sending good thoughts and prayers your way. As many here know, I am a 7-year breast cancer survivor, and try and stay connected to the subject of breast health. I tend to be a resarcher/information gatherer when in these types of situations, and do recognize that everyone deals with them differently. That being said, I'll throw a couple things out to you. Feel free to ignore them; again, everyone's situation is unique.
I am a big fan of second opinions, and suggest to people to obtain a second opinion. That being said - make sure you're comfortable with your doctor's course of action. The other question I would ask is why is he/she going directly to a lumpectomy and not doing a needle/core biopsy first? It could be because regardless of the pathology of the lump, they'll want to remove it? Please note - this is just a question I would ask and would want to understand. I'm definitely not a medical expert or implying your doctor may be doing something wrong.
Wishing you the best outcome...
- Patty
