A quick Hello

I just thought I'd say Hi and Happy New Year to everyone.  Bryan and I are doing great.

I had a hysterectomy on Dec. 17 and plan to return to work on Tuesday, Jan. 20.  Everything went really well and I have recovered nicely.  The only thing is the tiredness.  I can get tired at the drop of a hat.  Ever since weight loss surgery, I had reverted back to my earlier days in life, and had periods from heck; painful, felt like I was bleeding to death, anemia, etc..... I don't remember all the technical terms for what I had, but it was enough to get it all removed.  I kept my ovaries, so I don't need hormone replacement.

Other then that, life is good.  Actually, having the hysterectomy has made it better.

Have a great year all!

Cindy

Hi Cindy, glad you're doing well after the hysterectomy. I had one in 2003 and other than my WLS, it was the best surgery I ever had. They had to take my ovaries because I had a cyst on one and the doc didn't like the way the other one looked. I was on hormone replacement therapy until Thanksgiving 2007, when I decided I didn't want to take them any longer and have never taken any HRT since then. I had full-blown anemia. So low that my blood count was in the 7s. I also had a fibroid tumor the size of a golf ball that would make me hemmorhage every month. And the fatigue, omgosh, I was tired all the time. Make sure you get your rest and stay off your feet as much as possible. Sending big hugs to you. xoxoxo

Hi Cindy . . . I had the same thing about 17 years ago . . . with just about the same symptoms . . . and OMG . . . what a JOY afterwards!  I suffered every month and used to pass out in high school and my dad would have to come get me . . . ugh how embarrassing!  Between that and my WLS . . . life is GREAT!  Heal fast!

Hi Cindy,

Good to hear you and Bryan are doing well, and that your hysterectomy went well.  I had one over five years ago.  It included my ovaries, as it was preventative, due to my genetic cancer risk.

I gotta say, it's been a good thing... and, while I didn't go on HRT and had to deal with some hot flashes, night sweats... etc.    I was pretty lucky and they weren't too bad - and, I'd deal with them any day over a period.

It's been a very long time, but I'm planning on going to LB Coffee this Saturday - any chance you and Bryan might stop by?

Take care,

- Patty
