Protein Bullet question

Greetings all,

Sorry I havent been all that active lately but I am trying to get rid of a nasty bladder infection I apparently picked up in the hospital or something. Not been a real fun couple weeks.

Anyway, I keep hearing about these Protein Bullets and wondered if anyone here uses them. I am having an issue getting all the protein in I need and would like a little boost as it were. Any ideas on flavors or where to get them the cheapest?

Thanks in advance.............Have a great day

Hi Rick,
I don't know anything about the protein bullets but I use the 100% whey protein by Body Fortress. I like the cookies n cream flavor. I use non fat milk and I freeze it for about an hour and them it is like a shake. Not to bad. Hope this helps you.

Hi Dawn,

I use the Nectar Protein and love the stuff. It has 23 grams of protein per scoop and I try to do 30 grams at a time. The stuff is great but I am just having an issue with fluids right now. Thanks for the response...................Rick

I have bought a few at Wal-Mart. And I bought one at the Vitamin Shoppe. Wal-Mart's is way cheaper, lol.

They really don't taste all that great. You can only drink half at a time, since our bodies only absorb so much protein at one time. Some people mix the bullet with their water, but that tasted HORRIBLE to me! It was just easier to choke it down in one shot.

But they really are a great way to get extra protein!! Try it out!

Hi Nicole,

I have heard kind of the same stories like they are sort of like thick jello or something LOL. I agree that the body can only digest so much. I think 30 grams is the max at one time but I wont swear to that............Thanks

Have a good day

Yeah they are like a thick watery jello (would that be an oxymoron? lol). But one large swig is about half of the bullet.

Best of luck to you!

Rick,
I do the Bullets. I buy them on-line and they have 42 gms of protein. The ones in WalMart only have, I believe, 23 gms. You can google Protein Bullets and find where to buy them on-line. Sometimes different place have them on sale. I personally like the fruit punch the best and blue raspberry is sooo yucky. Grape is good, orange is a take it or leave it flavor..
Hope this is helpful. Good luck

You can digest more than 30 g. of protein.

From "ASMBS Allied Health Nutritional Guidelines for the Surgical Weight Loss Patient"

"One popular myth is that only 30 g/hr of protein can be absorbed. Although this is commonly found in both lay and some professional literature, there is no scientific basis for this claim."

http://www.asmbs.org/Newsite07/resources/bgs_final.pdf

Two articles about it:

As for the bullets, they can be useful, but I wouldn't use them as my sole source of protein because they are mostly collagen. But if you are also getting protein from other sources, they should work well.

HI Rick,
I used to add water and lemon juice to the grape bullets and I could swallow them. But then I discovered Starbucks venti, decaf skinny lattes (16 grams of protein, 20 ounces of liquid). My fave is vanilla, and I still drink at least one a day. The yummiest way to get protein I know.

Nancy .. that sounds Great.  So it's warm?   Like a reg latte .. not a frap ????   is the 16 grams of protein considered as a shot of protein.  I'm a coffee drinker so this is right up my alley.
