Hi Frank, I do not have the information on insurance coverage, but I just wanted you to know about the duodenal switch WLS. Have you checked into that? It is not near as bad as some think with diarrhea and smelling bad, etc. That was the old version of the BPD. I wish the docs and laymen would read up on the new versions (which is now over 20 years old) called the biliopancreatic diversion with the duodenal switch (BPD/DS). I did not know about it before I had RnY almost 4 years ago. Some WLS does not work well for some people. The RnY did not work for me and it wasn't my fault. Some people have done great with it. The DS sounds like it would work for me better and it is a more forgiving surgery. Yes, we need to take vitamin supplement, but so do Rny patients. Now the lapband is not so great either. The band can erode into your stomach. Please check out the "revision" weight loss surgery board and you read about countless people with either the RnY or the lapband looking for something else, and that something else would be the DS. Once you have the DS, no need for any other surgery and your common channel can be made longer or shorter such as the case may be.  If you do consider the DS, please come to the DS forum and we will try to answer any question you have.   KAREN

Thanks again for the info.

I've had a few people recommend DS WLS, I'm certainly going to look into that further.

Thanks for all the help. After pouring through the info in this post and gathered from other sources I've decided to go with a Blue Cross PPO.

THANKS!!!
