Pre-Op Diet
So today I step on the scale and it didn't move I'm still on my pre-op diet and I've lost 13lbs. but nothing else? Is this normal? When I went to the doctors he was happy to see I had lost some weight and is asking that I lose atleast 10 more pounds and the scale just isn't moving.. any advice anyone???
How long have you been stuck at 13 pounds? It's very normal for your body to normalize after losing some weight. Even after weight loss surgery this is the case. If it's only been a week or 2, I wouldn't worry. If it's been longer, you may want to talk to your nutritionist or look at your exercise routine and increase the intensity.
You may want to know as well that by law, you cannot be denied weight loss surgery because you don't lose the weight your program is requiring you to. I couldn't lose weight to save my life before my sugery. I had an underactive thyroid and I was taking a ton of insulin to control my diabetes. I finally demanded help from my doctor when she told me losing weight would be almost impossible for me. She called the surgeon and asked that her perform the surgery without requiring the weight loss, or as much weight loss as he wanted.
With that being said, if you can lose the additional 10, I'd recommend it. My surgeon doesn't like me very much because I didn't lost all the weight he wanted me to before surgery. It hasn't affected the quality of his service, but it would be nice if he went back to being more friendly with me.
Good luck in reaching your goal of surgery!
