Okay I am so scared of losing my hair when I have surgery, but what makes it worse is I had a bad hair cut! I was supposed to get a trim and he took 12 inches off! I cried because it took 10 years to grow my hair, anyway my hair is also shedding. I am increasing my protein and have been taking my vitamins but it still continues to shed. I did pick up some Biotin but I am not sure how much to take. Can someone please help me. I really think I will be having surgery soon just waiting for date, and I really want my hair to grow a little before it really starts falling out.

I take Super Biotin from Walmart. I taje 5000mcg (5mg) twice a day. Even with the Biotin, you will still experience some hair loss until 9-12 months post-op. Hope this helps.

I never took Biotin, but I did loose some hair. My hair did thin out but then it started growing back again. Your body will go through a state of shock due to the changes, but don't worry. Make sure you get all your protein in & take your vitamins!

Just shave it off like me j/k

I've been around many women who have had surgery and yes, the hair does fall off but only for a short time period.  I really can't tell that it's fallen off....Really, to me, it's not apparent.

Hey, just use Aqua Net to cover the light bald spots

Hi Miss O,

I had a ton of hair loss starting at around the 3rd month post surgery and it lasted a couple of months. I am lucky in that I have very thick hair and it wasn't noticeable to others, but I sure could notice it. Once I could eat 300-400 calorie meals again, my drastic hair loss stopped. I still lose slightly more than post surgery, but things definitely improved after my 5th or 6th month.

Good luck.
