Where did you have your surgery? Why were you unhappy with Vacaville? There is a support group listed for Napa and Vallejo. I get weekly announcements for the local support groups. Is anything listed in your binder? Check with the Bariatric Department, if you went through Kaiser. There is also a group in Santa Rosa, but that is probably too far for you to go.

I tried to go to the one in Vacaville and all I ended up was pissed off.  All I got was the run around.  As for Vallejo, I have found a few phone #'s but all disconnected.  Richmond I would just rather not go to - trying basically to avoid bridge toll.

Kaisers in Vacaville, Napa, Richmond, and Vallejo all have support groups. Check with the Bariatric Department that you are going through.

Frankly, I would recommend restarting your exercise and logging your food. Those are valuable and necessary skills for success long-term. If it is a hormonal issue, the surgeon will probably work with you, but the pre-op time is a wonderful time to practice the lifestyle changes that you will need for the rest of your life. If you can't do it now, what is going to help you post-op? Yes, the weight will come off, but the real challenge is keeping it off.  The surgery is only a tool and the lifestyle changes are crucial for success.

Time to celebrate December with fellow "losers"

Who: Pre-op, post-op no-op, anyone who wants friendship and
camaraderie while on their weight loss journey and/or
maintaining their weight loss. This isn't a formal
support group meeting but a get together among
friends who support
one another in their quest for better health.
Of course it goes without
saying, our So Cal friends are always welcome too.

When: Sat. December 10th - 3:30 p.m.

W
here: Barb and Ron's house in Concord
If you are planning to attend, please send me a PM and I will give you the address and phone number.

Please bring a dish to share and your beverage of choice.

Don't forget the White Elephant too.  Time to do some "re-gifting" of an item that you don't need.  Be sure they are wrapped with no tag and in good condition and not broken.  Let the fun begin.

Hugs, Happy Holidays and Ho, Ho, Ho

Hi! I just had my surgery on 11/7/11 and am looking for some support from people that have been through this. I had my surgery at UCLA and they only have support groups once a month. Does anyone have any other groups to suggest?

I think that's pretty typical with the incisions. I would just take it easy and call my surgeon if it doesn't gradually get better and especially if it gets worse!

I haven't done it myself. Send a PM to "larra" and "Diane Cox" and they can help you or direct you to someone who can help you.

This is what I do know: You have to file an appeal with Kaiser first and then there is a process to follow. The process should be documented on Kaiser's web site and also on the DMHC's web site, but having people who are experienced to help you can make a big difference.
