Centers of Excellence are required to run support groups that are open to anyone. So, if any hospital in  your area does bariatrics, they should have a support group.

I'm not familar with your area so I don't even know the names of hospitals to check but that would be where I would start if I were you.

Hey, thanks!  No schedule yet, starting with the first one about holiday eating and exercise, and then getting feedback from people to see what they want to talk about next.

No, the group was organized a year ago by another person... but she couldn't or didn't want to continue, and the meetup group was about to close down from inactivity... I thought it would have been such a loss to lose that group, so I paid to keep it running.

Hopefully you might join us and come up with some speaking points for future meetings!

Congrats on getting a support group together =) Do you have a schedule for them yet or are you just starting with the first one and then going from there? I went to the link you posted and from what I can see it looks like a group that is already organized, am I looking at the wrong thing?

Thanks!

Topic: Annoucing new Sacramento-area support group!
Hi everyone!

Well, I stepped up and took over a meetup group that was just about to expire due to inactivity.  I was sad to see it about to go - I really enjoyed meeting other people dealing with WLS!  It can be tough to find support, and it's so important.  So, I decided to stop being so lazy and actively participate.  We're having our first new meetup next Saturday, please check it out!:  http://www.meetup.com/Sacramento-Weightloss-Surgery-Support/

Who I am:
A person still in the "losing" phase
New, having VSG surgery in July of this year
A scientist, a biologist, so I know some health stuff
Challenged in compliance like many of you are
Welcoming of all races, creeds, sexualities and peoples

Who I'm not:

Someone who is a physican, nurse, or any other medical personnel or expert
Someone affliated with any office or hospital or surgeon
Someone with all the answers

Please sign up here if you'll be coming to the next meeting!
