I would trust all of them also. I really liked Dr. Wynn. She did my uncle's surgery. But I just felt more drawn to Dr. Peters. I couldn't help but pay attention to him- you know? But yeah I called the office & I have an appointment for March 31st & this time I have my Mom for support. I'm SOOOO excited.

My suggestion would be to call their office and tell them about your situation. Ask them their professional opinion as to what needs to be done in order to become Dr. Peter's patient. DON'T GIVE UP. Although Dr. Wynn was my surgeon and I do like her, I agree with you about Dr. Peters. He's much more outgoing. He sort of has a "sparkle" in his eye.
Surgery-wise, I would trust all of them.

Topic: Do I start over? Or how do I go about doing this?
I had a consultation with Dr. Wynn a longgg time ago & it went good. I started my appointments, got clearance from the cardiologist & had a sleep study done. But then I realized that my support was non existent & I was having trouble getting to my appointments (I don't drive). So I canceled all of my appointments & decided to wait until I was able to be more serious about this. So, fast forward ahead a few months- my best friend got his surgery on Tuesday (Feb. 23rd) & I'm jealous to say the least. LOL. Anyway, while we were waiting for him to come out of surgery, I was talking to his Mom & she said that if I make the appointments that she'll make sure I get to all of them. I came home & told my Mom about what she said & now all of a sudden my Mom is being really supportive & urging me to call the surgeon's office. I'm going to call today- but do I explain the situation to them? Or do I call for another consultation? Or what?
Also, my original surgeon was Dr. Wynn & although she seems like a very good doctor, I got an amazing vibe from Dr. Peters when I met him the day of my friend's surgery. I'm assuming that I'll have to start all over if I wanted to choose Dr Peters instead of Dr. Wynn.
This is so confusing!!! How does all this work??

We aren't going to get any snow (except for the flurries falling now). You're appointment will still happen on Friday. Best of luck in your journey!!!

I guess they can take whatever they want. I bring cut up fruit in a container. A banana is good to take. The egg salad was also in a container with a couple crackers. The soup was in a can. You can buy food in the terminal, however it isn't cheap and it is difficult to get things we can eat. I have a card from CHRIAS, but the gestapo at the airport doesn't care. They take all liquids at the checkpoints. I bring a baggie with my Crystal lite and protein already mixed then add water & ice once I'm on the plane. You have to buy water inside the terminal or once you get on the plane. I always bring peanut butter crackers too. I carry an entire carry on with my emergency clothes, bathing suit and food that we can eat on the plane. It is a long flight. 5 hrs to California then another 5 to Hawaii. You'll love it. Have fun. Topic: update on Liz C.! She had her RNY on Monday!
Hey, all -
As Liz's angel, she has asked me to give you guys an update as to how she's doing since her RNY on Monday. I went to see her in the hospital last night....she looked good, but has been having some pretty significant nausea. The meds are helping a little, but she hasn't been up walking too much b/c it's then that she gets nauseous. She's sipping a little bit and when I left her she had drank what she was supposed to for the hour.
She's been having a hard time with the nursing staff....which stinks, since I had the same group of nurses and they were wonderful. Bad luck I guess.
So, just know she's been thinking of all of you and will likely be discharged home today! Keep her in your thoughts!
Thanks for listening!

Topic: Bummed......
I have my first appointment on Friday but now with the snow coming I think that it will be cancelled. I am bummed as I was so excited to start this process. Does anyone have any experience with Dr. Wynn? Will I be able to get fit in quickly? (Some docs are notoriously slow to reschedule, I understand that no one has a def. answer for me :) ) What can I look forward to on this appointment? Thanks for your input!

Tropicana light is fine I still drink it daily. Small pills, smaller than an M&M should go down with no difficulty after about a week. I have never had to crush meds. Lap band folk do not have malabsorption, so I take 2 adult gummy bear one a day vits a day, a small Vit D2000units daily, in oil, a B12 1000units sublingual. Keep your protein around 60 grms a day, fluid intake 60-100 oz/day and follow your surgeons progressive diet. After about a month you will be totally on real food and ready for a fill. Be patient. It can take many fills before the band does its job. If you work with it and your MD you will do fine. Good luck!

I wouldn't buy a lot in the way of food products at this point. I bought the no sugar added applesauce and after surgery couldn't stand the taste of it. The Tropicana Juice may be too much sugar. I remember a "no juice" rule and haven't touched the stuff.
Pre surgery, I bought the chewable calcium citrate with vitamin D, and a chewable centrum and the sublingual B12 from drugstore.com. I picked up the liquid Omega 3 at the GNC and bought some Healthwise protein drink mixes at PMRI. They also have them at the Chrias office.
I bought the Unjury powdered proteins and drank them after surgery, but I'm a month out now, and I can't stand them anymore. I have switched to the Isopure clear protein drinks.
The point is, your tastes will change. They change from pre-surgery to post. And they change from day to day. I tried cottage cheese toward the end of my pureed diet and thought "this is great! I can pack in the protein and enjoy this for lunch everyday!" Two days later I couldn't even look at cottage cheese without getting a bit queasy. Same thing happened with pureed chicken and broth. First day I thought it was the yummiest thing. Next day, couldn't stand it.
So don't break the bank. Get the essential meds and figure out the foods on a trial by taste basis. If you miss coffee in the morning, I suggest the Cappucinno mixes. They have Vanilla and Amaretto at the Chrias shop. Delish! Protein enriched! And a nice way to wake up your tummy in the morning.

you will be on regular food. You can buy something after you pass security and bring it on board.
