2 weeks post-op can I have arbys roast beef?
Well he is going to get me one so I will try it.
Connie - I am seeing my doctor does things differently compared to most on this board. I was only one liquids for the first few hours after surgery. I was on full liquids that evening and for a full week. Whi*****luded cheese.
From 7 days out to 6 weeks out chicken breasts, turkey breast, pork loin, pork roast, eggs, lean ground beaf, canned ham or chicken and canned lump crab meat and tofu are on my list.
I haven't had any problems and had my first piece of deli meat 8 days after surgery.
I am just trying not to feel guilty about eating the FAST FOOD roast beef! And even though roast beef is on my list, it isn't on my list even after 6 months. They told us not everything we can eat is in our book. So we'll see

I have to agree with connie. I just haven't heard anyone eating meat that wasn't ground up this quickly. The reason I was given is that you have to give your stomach time to heal, eating food like that too quickly will cause the pouch to stretch. Are you SURE you aren't supposed to be pulvarizing the meat. You really should be on mushies right now. If your dr says it's ok I guess it's ok but I have assume most of us had this schedule for a reason.
I just replied. I am following their meal plans and have the emails from the Nut saying that is exactly what I am supposed to be doing.
My Nut. also says we should not weigh our food as food shouldn't be measured by weight but by the amount. The weight of the food can be more then what is actually measured out in a measuring cup.
I mention this because on another one of my posts some one questioned WHY my nut says NOT to weigh out your food. Which I see what the Nut says now. Just because something weighes 2 ounces, doesn't make the quantity of the food 2 ounce. Know what I mean?
Guess my doctor is a lot different then SOME others on here, but not all.

Yes it is, St. Vincents Bariatric Center of Excellence in Carmel, IN. As several others on here have been to.
Yes I am 100% positive I can eat these and NOT have them pureed. I have an email from the Nut. herself before I started eating it. I specifically asked if it needed to be pureed as I asked on here as well and had the same questions come up. Her response was "
For the lap band meal plans, the meats do not need to be pureed. We want foods more “solid” so the band will do its job of restricting the intake.
That was copied directly from her email when some one on here questioned it then. So yes it is ok. And a response about deli meat..Yes, lean deli meat is fine to do!
Yes my doctor is experienced, and yes I trust the instruction they give me, they are trained and are specialists in this area.

Leanne,
Welcome to OH...where the poster's think they are the doctors.
I was on a similar diet to you. After 3 days of liquids I was on soft proteins including chicken, turkey, and seafood, as well as cooked veggies and all fruits. After my first fill I was cleared for whatever I wanted. The only thing I would worry about is the type of beef their using. Remember with beef, its good to stick to lean cuts, and I really dont know what type of beef Arby's is using, but here's the deal- YOU know your body, never second guess yourself.
I did go through a Bariatric Center of Execellence. My doctor was Dr. Robin Blackstone, a world renound surgeon who has worked with Discovery Health on two seperate documentary's for Metabolic and Bariatric surgery.
Word to the wise- with food questions, call your nutrionist at your doctor's office. Every office has different food programs, and if your's was different then the norm people dont respond well.
Thanks!
Thanks!
I have noticed that when I post about food or anything there is a very large difference. And I just hate to think that people don't believe me when I am reading right from my "lap band bible" that my doctor provided. Or thinking that I choose some doctor out of the phone book and went to get a major surgery done. It is kind of an insult and slap in the face. Oh well
Thanks for the support! I did eat the roast beef. It went down ok, not as smooth as my deli turkey does. But it was good!

Hi Leanne613,
I just wanted to offer some support to you for theinstructions that your surgeon and nutritionist gave you. My post-op diet was almost identical to yours. My surgeron, as with others who have given a similar post op diets, is highly qualified, and highly respected in the bariatric field. My surgery ws done at a center of excellence as well.
Thanks for remaining poised as you faced others comments. The truth of the matter, I think, is that everybody wants everybody to be successful, hence the cautionary words.
I asked my surgeon and my nutritionist about the difference between my post-op diet and the post-op diet of others posted on this web-site. My surgeon explained to me that for just about every surgeon there comes a different post-op diet , and every surgeon feels that he or she is correct. He assured me that his instructions were based on studies that he has done and results that he has seen with his patients. I have faith in my medical team and the advice that they have given me. I think that you should do the same.
Good luck, and congratulations on your surgery!
Remember that each doctor is working with their own group of people. I believe that the best advise is to listen to your after care team because they are trying to learn about you through subjective information. The more consistent that is with the group they work with, the better they will be at making adjustments to your band or plan.
