After 8 yrs...I finally have a surgery date

July 28,2009 at 5 am. I am stunned...in absolute shock. I'm not scared or nervous but, my mind is just racing a million miles an hour...

Wow! Thank you everyone! I live in Auburn CA, about 30 miles east of Sacramento, in the Sierra Foothills. Why did it take eight years? First doc said...I don't believe in WLS. Second doc said..You are not fat enough(5'1" at 273lbs!??). Third doc said...he would not perform the surgery on someone with gatroparesis(stomach is partially paralyzed,delayed gastric emptying). I have zero self confidence, so I just walked away thinking this is what I deserved. In March of this year my BP which is normally very high, shot out of control(176/120), I also have sleep apnea,GRDS,etc.. my PCP did nothing.My mother got scared then she got angry, she took my list of bariatric surgeons and began calling around...then I came here to the DS forum because of Kerry J...and the rest is history!

Whaaaaa??? Your BP was 176/120 and your GP did NOTHING? Man, I'm glad your mother was on the scene to help. I don't imagine with your BP at that level, you were able to do very much or even think clearly about all of this.

Your (I hope FORMER) PCP needs to be slapped in the head. With a trout or something stinky.
