Well worth the wait, let me tell you.  I waited 5-6 years.  Doesnt feel real does it?  I think even after I had the surgery I wondered if it all really happened. lol =)

Wow.  8 years.   That's longer than it took me!    Congratualtions.   You'll cycle between euphoria and panic a few times before the day arrives, I'll bet.

It's my daughter's and grandson's birthday, too.   Good day, good day.

Congratulations, and a special word of thanks to your mom. I hope you will tell as many other people as possible your story. No one should accept a doctor who isn't willing to take care of them. And while the fight against MO can be difficult, no one should give up, either.
I'm so glad you will have the treatment that you deserve.

Words seem inadequate, you have all touched my heart deeply. Thank you, each and everyone of you. Yes, I was seriously ill when my BP got that high, I could not catch my breath, my chest hurt, I could barely stand up, I was shaking uncontrollably, honestly, I thought I was about to die. I was scared to death. When I called my doc's office and told them how high my BP was and that I felt very ill, they said "we will have the Dr. call you back. Three days later his office called(not my doc) and gave me an appointment, seven days away. When I was finally able to see the Dr. he told me to take more anxiety meds.At that point my mom went up one side of him and down the other. When I left I had a new Rx for another BP med
(now I'm on two). I know he is not the best but I am very worried about changing PCP's this close to surgery, in fact I have appt with him on Monday to do my pre-op labs,EKG and x-rays. I'm not even sure he knows about the DS surgery.

And yes, I will tell anyone and everyone about DS. My mom is absolutely incredible, a super hero, a beautiful angel and the strongest woman I have ever met. She is currently recovering from breast cancer. She is, without a doubt, what I aspire to be...

I am just happy that you got someone to listen.  if the doctor you have now is supporting you for the surgery, I wouldnt change right now.  You can worry about all that after the surgery.

I have had the first part, the VSG, and I can tell you that it was the BEST thing I ever did.  The first few months there will be changes, the surgery changes your likes and dislikes when it comes to food.
You will wake up one day and go....I use to not be able to fit in that chair, or didnt I use to have to take a nap after a shower because I was so tired?

My whole thyroid has shrank almost by half, that has to be a good thing, right?
My body works now.

This will be a happy ending for you, and I am overjoyed that we get to experience it with you.

CONGRATS on the long-awaited surgery date!!!!!!!!!!   Way to testify to your perseverence, and your mom's too!  I pretty much owe my life to my mom's medical advocacy on my behalf, and I just have to say - thanks to all the great Mom's out there!!!

And I'm with whoever posted earlier that your PCP needs to be slapped in the face with something stinky! I support you in not changing PCPs this close to surgery, but I sure hope you will post-op.  That's one scary ass doctor...

...Anyway,  woot-woot on the big day!!!!

Thank you once again for your support and words of encouragement. I'm going to stay with my PCP for now, I'll look for a different one after my surgery. His indifference to my medical situation is staggering. Prior to my knee surgery I told him that the pain in my knee and back was crippling, I literally could not walk anymore and that I had become home bound(I had to climb four flights of stairs, each set of stairs had fifteen steps...sixty stairs!!). He left the room and came back in with the phone # to the local substance abuse program!!!?? Mind you, I don't drink,I don't smoke and I don't do drugs. I had never asked for anything for pain prior to this appointment!? WTH?? I limped out of the office in tears and did not go bac****il my BP got out of control. Now, my fiance, Chuck has a whole different view...he'd like to reach out, grab doc by the neck, and squeeze until his head pops off like a grape!!
That won't happen though, he's not allowed to touch civilians (retired special forces).
