So, which so called "DS surgeons" should we avoid?

I totally agree that Dr Husted moves around too much and leaves his patients in a tough spot BUT I do believe that he is an excellent cutter.  He is also very caring and answers his own personal cell phone whenever I have called him.  Luckily I have not neede to see him again since about 2 weeks after my surgery.  I have my labs done and we then have a phone consultation about my lab results.  This has worked ok for me so far.  It does kind of make me a little nervous that he is much farther away from me now if something did actually happen and I needed him for some reason, BUT some people go out of the country to have their surgeries done so I guess I do have better access to him than they do their surgeons.  He has put himself in a bad life with his relocating numerous times but like I said he is a great SURGEON and that was why I wanted him to begin with.

This is just MY opinion of course!

If there are other reasons that he is on your don't use list I am unaware of them but would be happy to hear of them.....

Getting excited about my future!  God is AWESOME!

Guess I need to chime in here =)

Me "having a life" has nothing to do with the quality of my "DS surgeon list". It's actually one of the most important things to me. If any feels my list "isn't worth the electronic paper it's written on", don't recommend my site. Personally, I feel that's short sighted and kinda sad, but hey, I put so much work into it of course I feel that way ;)

My DS Surgeon list is to help guide people to where DS surgeons are. It is up to every patient to research the surgeon to see if they are comfortable with their skill, stats, program for after care, and fees. Patients need to be responsible for doing the work to choose their surgeon!! But first they need to know where they are.

If I removed all the surgeons people have mentioned for various reason's, there'd be like 10 surgeons on the list. Reality... not everyone can afford to travel out of state for DS surgery. Also, many patients have to follow their insurance company protocols. My goal is to help patients find a surgeon. We all have our opinions and they vary. For every person who says "this surgeon is bad" others come out and say "this surgeon treated me great". I will not remove a surgeon because of a few reports of this or that. WE do not know the full reason's behind everything that happens. If there are continuous grievous errors, of course I will pull a surgeon. There's a big difference between "having concerns" and "pulling a surgeon". Knowing the concerns is good and should be discussed with the surgeon in person. Don't like what you hear, walk. I think this thread provides valuable information for patients looking for a surgeon because they can find out about "the concerns" and address them.
