i can read. What do you want me to say that could possibly make her feel better? NOTHING.
I am aware of the risks and every few days I have to explain to someone at work or in my family why it is worth the risk for me. I have to prove that I KNOW MY **** I am a research junky in DS as in everything else, I have taken anatomy, physiiology, medical terminology and I have seen many surgeryies in person and I know what the risks are and it is sad to know that after living through the DS surgery life might still fall down around you. BETTER?????
Also, I don't think research or dieting can fully prepare anyone for the DS, just as reading baby books or babysitting for a day can prepare one for motherhood. That is true for all lifes HUGE choices.

I don't think that she if frustrated with life. I think you have missed the point of the post. Most people go into having a DS thinking it's going to be all sunshine and rainbows and don't really consider what if it isn't? I relate to what she is saying, because besides having a rough start, a slew of complications, I am like Sia in that my life doesn't really revolve around food. It revolves around protein drinks. Nearly 90% of my daily intake comes from them. Am I frustrated? Did I think that eating would be so difficult? Not really because I keep hoping that eventually things will get better. It is what it is. I have come to terms with life as it is and if it stays this way forever, so beit, I will deal with it. I knew that problems might arise, but never in my life did I think it would be quite so challenging.
What I hear Sia saying is that as a newbie DSer, life isn't always about walking in the clouds and having an easy time of it. It doesn't mean that they won't, but if something does happen are they willing to simply accept it and to work with what life has handed them?
I know that Sia has had a difficult time, especially in the beginning, but she is doing much better now.

My life is popping. You make do with what you have. I wrote this post for people unlike yourself who are living in a utopic mindset. The DS is major work. And I didn't want nor need your sympathies. I'm pretty fine without it.

Sia! I've missed you! I'm truly sorry to hear about all of your losses and struggles.
I read this board for hours and hours almost every day as a pre-op. I continued to do so as a new post-op and only recently (within the past month or so) have I strayed away for more than a day or so at a time. The information and support here is invaluable and you are so right about pre-ops needing to do hardcore research and needing to understand that things don't always go as planned.
