Yep. My mom had a coffee can in the refrigerator that she put the bacon grease in. I had completely forgotten about that. I just use a coffee cup a coworker brought me back from Rome.

Edited to fix stupid spelling error.

I just use a rinsed out empty can from veggies or something, but the Williams-Sonoma one is much cuter! I may have to invest in one. Although I could never drink bacon grease! But I do use it to fry things(or butter).

Bacon grease needs to be kept!!  We keep it in an old jelly/jam jar in our fridge.  It's the BEST way to cook eggs, when you don't feel like going through the hassle of cooking the bacon first.  Soooo yummy.

Thanks for all the responses. So I guess it's in the frig. or on the stove either way it is all good. I want to leave mine out as I cook with it  almost daily, but want a lid for it and a strainer would be nice. They sure knew how to keep things simple in the old days. I am really trying to simplify my life and this makes it easier as I have tipped over the can I was using. Karen

I keep mine in the fridge. Here in Fla. if the air conditioning isn't running and the house heats up too much it can actually cause the grease to sour if it's left sitting out. I have a can full in my fridge at al times. I use it alot. I cook a bag of dried beans or peas and always add bacon grease. It's great for seasoning vegetables. All of my eggs, omelettes, fried, scrambled...all cooked in bacon grease. It's a staple in my house!

Odd question- how long is the bacon grease good for?  I keep mine in a tupperware in the fridge, but was recently debating tossing it because it's been in there a few weeks and I'm afraid to use it...

My mom kept hers in an old coffee tin in the freezer.  I think she still has one going :)  Although, she never used the grease for anything, just dumped all remnant grease in there, filled the can, then tossed it in the trash.  It was grease from anything cooked, not just bacon though.

Not a odd question at all. I am not sure but in the old days they left it out on the stove. Sure they cooked with it everyday and the grease was always being used in many different ways. I was leaving mine on the stove, but think I may move it to the fridge in the summer months. I am sure it can keep for many a day, week, even months. Karen

ummm it was not just my mother that had one, I have had one for years but mine is over 40 years old as it wasone of my mother's.  I have been low carbing on and off for 20 years and steady for about 8 years now, but I have to admit, i usually throw it away  (dont kill me now, I am a newbie DS, that may change in the future).......
