One Year Post-Op Visit Tomorrow - Questions?
If your group is at 2pm tomorrow, I'll be there too, but just for my 3 month. And I agree with you, my first group after surgery was all about the RNY folks. With Sudan being such a great doc (in my opinion,) I don't know why those group sessions don't have more DS folks in them? He's been at Duke since 2008 right? At my first meeting, I got the impression that some of the people didn't even know about the DS...it just struck me funny...we all had to go to the seminar, weren't they paying attention? Anyway...doc at 130 and session at 2 for me.
He came to Duke in 2009 and didn't start doing the DS at Duke until November 2009 (I was the first one!). I hear they've actually come a long way since I was there a year and a half ago, but still have a long way to go......
Have fun at your group and make sure you interject all your DS questions and correct them when they tell you wrong.....like I always did...... ;)

Hey guys! Looks like we'll have 3 DSers there! I'll be there for my 3 week visit & I'll be at the 2pm group meeting as well. I look forward to meeting some of Sudan's other DSers! :)

Have you had or are you going to have the DS and live in the Charlotte, NC area? There is a DS meet up group near you! PM me for details.

Oh yes Chad, I remember too well. It was horrible. The wound vac, the feeding tube, just horrible! I met a friend my daughter made while I was in the hospital for the 3.5 weeks of complications. It was wierd. Some things are foggy, but I do remember the big things. I definately remember trying all the different protein shakes I tried and hated, the trip to Florida where we only got to stay 2 days cause I couldn't stop puking.....yeah, I remember all that horrible stuff, but it was well worth it now that I feel so wonderful. I was just telling my DH yesterday how good I feel. T
I'm glad you can say it was worth it now! I'm sure there were times that you didn't feel that way. For me, complications all became kind of a distant memory by the time I was a year out, but you went through a lot more than I did. I hope all the bad continues to fade away for you. Congratulations again!
