Thank you Loretta - you're right; I need to continuously say that this is temporary.

Band to DS

Unfortunately, I had to delete this post due to privacy concerns.

Got a lap band in 2008. Tried hard, but didn't lose much weight & developed swallowing problems. Fought my insurance company for almost a year & finally had a band to DS revision on 5/11/12. Have now lost 125 pounds. Yay!

I'm an emotional eater too.  And stress eater.  I hate it.  I wish I could turn a switch and make it stop.  But hell, if I could, I wouldn't have needed surgery, right?

I also send hugs.  :(   Sorry about all the crap you face.  Try to keep the hope alive that cir****tances can change (note to myself:  I should also take heed.)

Yes, definitely - I'm just struggling to find that hope.  Thank you for the hugs.

I'm new here too, but I'm definitely not new to the whole feeling helpless and trapped situation.  As one of the others stated.....EVERYTHING PASSES.  Nothing lasts forever and you are fighting and clawing your way out.  It might just be an inch at a time, but you're moving forward.

Sometimes you have to go easy on yourself, because sometimes there's simply nobody else that will.  Don't beat yourself up over it, just mark it as a lesson learned and move on.  You'll make it.....I swear, and DO have the hormones checked.  Alot of my "bipolar" was caused by just a few hormones being out of whack.

Thank you Twyla.  I am on a bipolar medicine (Abilify) and it helps, but I think the malabsorption has tuned down the volume of the help.

You're not the only one feeling trapped and so stuck.  I'm going through some rough **** on my end which is why I've been so quiet the past few days.

I wish I could eat.... I'd be right there with you, even if it is gonna right to our asses and give my tummy the bubble guts.  Sometimes the ice cream sandwiches are so worth it.  I like the ones where you gotta lick the chocolate off your fingers from the cake part, you know the cheapy store brand ones lol

It may not get better over night but one thing I've learned is not to let whats going on around me shape who I am but rather let how I handle my portion determine my outcome.  Easier said than done a million times over but it helps me keep calm when I want to explode at the world.

Thank you.  I try to remind myself that I can not change a lot of things but I can change how I react to them.  I try to be positive (I swear - even though this post is like Debbie Downer-ville) but it's so hard to keep up that image and appearence 24/7 when you're truly just faking it.

But if the ice cream was really high quality with lots of fat then you didnt really make that bad of a choice . silver lining , high fat ice cream= not that bad for you. I am just trying to be silly but i do understand how you feel. Just know there is an end to this and you will get yourself out of this situiton, it just takes time. And when you are suffering and feel so trapped it doesnt seem like it is ever going to get better, but it does.

When i finally got myself out of my house (abusive house) it took me a few years b4 i finally realized that i could relax mentally and things were very different in life. It takes a lot of time but it gets better, just work on one thing at a time.

Long island prices blow, four of us live in a 1 bedroom and we are paying 1250, it's crazy here.
