Duodenal surgery question

When you wake up from surgery, do you have a tube down your throat?

I didn't. I had trouble breathing probably because they had me laying down flat and I had pretty bad sleep apnea.

You should be drugged pretty well, so, if you wake up in recovery, and still have the tube (I would be very suprised~I think they pull the tube in out in the O.R.) they will pull it, and you will have no memory. The miracle of DRUGS!!!! Ha Ha!!!!

Most people don't remember the tube. It's taken out as you wake up from anesthesia. Many do have an NG tube. It's a tube through your nose to your stomach. Uncomfortable but manageable. Personally, I don't have many memories of the first 24 hours.

From my experience, I had a few tubes sticking out of me, and I believe one of them was in my throat. I was too hopped up on morphine to mind much. It wasn't in for very long. All but the IV were removed that evening or the next morning.
