General question

I had an open virgin DS without any complications. I was able to resume some light desk work at three weeks on a part time basis from home. The surgery and anesthetic resulted in extreme fatigue and I really wasn't up to strength for a full day of mental exertion for 6 to 8 weeks. (I have an extremely sedentary job, physically, but it requires quick thinking on complex issues.)
it took me the first few weeks to get used to my new innards and for the stomach to heal. Until I had the food/bathroom cycle worked out, I was happier at home.
Also, no lifting for three months, so I was extremely cautious of heavy file boxes etc, as I didn't want to cause any hernias
with a revision, your surgery will be more complex and likely require more recovery, but it is an investment in a long term healthier future
I agree with this. I was in pain for seven weeks and still at almost nine weeks have a small amount of pain when turning in bed or lifting. Expect to need eight weeks to recovery.... truly!
First of all please know that the RnY to DS is a very complex surgery and only a handful of surgeons in the world can do it.
My recovery from my first surgery ever (lap DS) was really really rough. I couldn't get enough fluids in, got dehydrated, couldn't sleep, had pain, it was awful. After week 3 I got some IV fluids and started to turn the corner. I can't imagine being able to work at anything (my brain just wouldn't allow it much less my pain/body****il at least 6 weeks out.

I am a revision from RNY to DS as well. 6 weeks for this complex surgery is a good time frame.

My DS was open and I took 8 weeks off of work. I was very grateful for the first 5 weeks and started feeling better around week 6 and 7. When I returned as a corporate trainer 8 weeks post op - I hit the ground running.
