I wouldn't have been dissappointed.  I would have been furious.  Is this surgeon known for doing the DS or was he planning to do a sleeve all along and just didn't tell you?

I'm so sorry this happened to you.  But maybe your situation can be a warning to others.  TALK to your surgeon in depth about your demand to have a DS.  Study your surgeon's reputation.  Talk to others who used your surgeon.  Make sure your surgeon knows you ONLY want a full DS.

My surgeon is well known and has done a bunch these before. So I truly do feel he did what was best. All I can do now is work the hell out of this sleeve because I don't want another procedure.

I'm so sorry that happened to you. I would be disappointed as well, expecting one thing and another thing happening. I'm glad your surgeon did what he thought was safest though.

I had "just the VSG" and have lost 223 pounds and less than 2 pounds from goal, so it CAN be done with just the sleeve. It's hard work but very very worth it. Hopefully you can join us on the VSG board.

Thanks! That's very encouraging. I believe I will lose all I need to. Just have to put in the work. As with any other procedure. I know I can do it!

I did very well with the sleeve alone for about 3 years. Then I lost my job, became sedentary and gained 35 pounds. You have to be careful later when you are able to eat more. But I promise you will lose weight with the sleeve. GOOD LUCK!!

Yes, I think I would tell a doc prior to going in that if he can't do the full DS, then just close me up.  Don't want one part.

Praying for your speedy recovery! God does all things well and I'm confident you will be a " big looser!" Hang in there sweetie pie!

Thanks again everyone. I'm feeling better. Nausea is way down and I ate a little mashed potatoes and kept it down. I'm finally being discharged!! Ready to go home and work the hell out of this sleeve. It may not be what I wanted but I trust God and believe it was what's best. I do have the option of having him finish the DS down the road but I'm believing I won't need it and if I do....well I visit that road when it comes. Thanks everyone for your kind and encouraging words. Can't wait to sleep in my own bed!
