Common channel length and DS success
The group with the longer channels had a mean BMI of 53.9 kg/m(2); 73.3% of patients had a BMI more than 50.
The 100 cm CC group had a mean preoperative BMI of 54.25 kg/m(2).
The shortest channel group had the highest GMI: mean preoperative BMI was 60.1 kg/m(2).

Marcie,
I had a bmi of 41 and have a common channel of 100 cm. I did not lose too much weight. In fact, I would have liked to lose another 10 - 15 pounds, but my body just settled in where it's been for the past 2 years. I would be very hesitant to have a longer common channel than 100, as statistics show it reduces chances of losing all the weight one needs to lose to gain a normal bmi. I now wish I would have had a 75cm common channel. Perhaps I would have taken off the last 10 pounds.
Thank you for the abstract. It was very interesting & informative.
LOL, by coincidence I had my first visit w/my surgeon today (post-op) & asked him what my cc length was. He looked it up & said 100 cm.
