Topic: RE: 2 Years On Fortero for Osteoporosis

That's great. I tried two rounds of Reclast and nothing happened - not worse, not better. The neurologist deemed it a failure. I deemed it not a failure but not a success. At least it didn't get worse.I think Fortero and Reclast are the same family. I'm meeting with my primary doctor this week. We've talked about Prolia and I'm probably going to try that and see what happens. I'm 17+ years postop (I'm 63) and have pretty bad t scores. Hope you see continued success.

Topic: RE: Anyone have DS from one of these 3 surgeons?

Yes I had Dr. Keshishian Dr.K for my surgery 7 years ago. He and his staff were wonderful.

I have a good friend who has Dr. John Rabkin. I have met him and gone to some of his group meetings. Both my friend and I both think he is wonderful also.

I live in northern CA so Dr. K is too far for me to see him - I am very glad I had him do my surgery.

Topic: 2 Years On Fortero for Osteoporosis

Greetings

I wanted to provide my 2 year update on Fortero. This drug can only been taken for 2 years and I have have great success. At the one year mark, I recovered 9% in my spine going from osteoporosis to none and I gained a half inch back. Now at the 2 year mark, I gained 3% in my femur. Still osteoporosis but much improved t score.

The plan now is to take prolia to solidify the progress made. Does anyone have experience with prolia?

Blessings

Julie

I started at 60.2 (my highest weight) and it was 50.8 the morning I was rolled into surgery. But my BMI is neither here nor there - it sounds like the issue is they wanted you to lose some weight before surgery.

I'm scheduled to have weight loss surgery next week at mexicali bariatric center. With dr Wilhelmy. My bmi is 53, they wanted me to get to 45. I'm 8 days out and getting nervous they will cancel my surgery. It's my own fault and I'm starting the liquid diet early but I was curious everyone else's BMI before surgery

I've had a couple procedures done, with the plan to do a couple more.

Thing is, I'm healing very slowly from them. They did a breast augmentation and six months later I'm still sore and in pain in that area. My plastic surgeon seems unconcerned; is it normal for this stuff to take a lot longer to heal than other people? Usually at this point other patients are 100% healed.

I have had quite a bit of plastic surgery and have healed quickly from all of it with no residual pOn. I had breast augmentAtion in Feb 2020,4 months ago and am pAin free from it.

I do t think it is a DS thing but just your I dividuL healing.

We're not doctors. If, a year ago, your endoscope showed issues, I suggest you go back to your doctor and have another scope. You may need to up your omeprezole but see our doctor to confirm.

My surgeon gave me the all clear about 4 months after surgery to start slowly. When fully healed I worked with a personal trainer and had absolutely no restrictions at all. Exercise really helped me maintain a steady weight loss throughout the entire losing process.

Follow your surgeon's instructions for exercise.

I had a TT and breast lift (no augmentation) done at the same time. I recovered easily from the lift but it took months and months to recover from my tummy tuck. Some people just heal faster than others. I had a WLS friend who also had a TT and recovered within weeks, while mine took months. Yet when she had her other procedures (arms and thighs) her recovery was horrible (part of it was not following the surgeon's instructions :( ).

I think we all recover differently from different procedures. Is the pain you're experiencing from a specific part or just overall discomfort? Continue to talk to your plastic surgeon and stay proactive.
