Thanks so much LaWanda....smiles....no I am not a teacher. We have relocated to Florida from Mn. Just arrived last week....we thought before I take my next job we would travel the country. I am Canadian by birth and have been in the usa only 6 years, my significant other..is a disabled vet. We are driving to the west coast to visit my family for my 50th birthday, then taking 6 weeks to wander the country...i call it our epic journey....I so appreciate your well wishes. Maybe when i get back our cir****tances will allow us to have tea together sometime...take care and keep up the good work!!!

Topic: Iron supplement
just had gastric bypass and started using a liquid Iron supplement. So far is only thing that does not taste good. What have people found to be the best Iron supplements to use?

hi I am in clearwater near 19 so maybe when you get back, I have min 3 mo wait for my surgery, so I wont be a done deal till maybe late Nov- Dec 2011 . So far i dont see wls folks to open. I am going to my 1st support group-- June 30 in Tampa as my surgeon is there, anyhow enjoy your vacation!!!

Sorry you are having to play the waiting game. I was very lucky that my whole ordeal went very fast had my consult feb 14th had surgery march 17 but my dr wasn't Jawad. People were telling me how insane the waiting list is so just hang in there. My doc. stays very busy also I just got lucky he had a freee spot. Good luck hhun

Everyone just wanted to share my experience with Emil Matei's office coordinator name Veronica. I had an appointment with them and had to cancel last minute because had an accident and couldn't get there. When I called to reschedule( mind you called friday and got an appointment for Monday) Veronica told me that I HAD to call her and tell her why I could not make the appointment. When I explained to her what happened she told me that she could reschedule for 6 months. I told her I wanted to speak to the manager and she said she was the manager (Like always)(EXTREMELY RUDE & TERRIBLE ATTITUDE) I asked why the attitude and she said to me that people from medicaid did not pay them for the surgeries done last year and they took whoever they wanted. So when I didn't show up she gave my appointment to someone else. How convenient and SHADY!! All in all I called my Drs office and told them the situation and they told me that from Dr Mateis office never wanted to see me.What upsets me is some people think that they can treat you like crap because of the insurance that you have. So many unemployed people out there and this woman has a job!!. I wish there was a complaint department for medicaid.Well I feel that its the best thing that has happened to me because went to Dr. Valladares office and they treated me great. I went to their orientation,have to go to the psycology test and dietitian. Crossing my fingers and hoping to go well. Well hopefully the best move because if the people from the office have that attitude I can't imagine what else to expect. Definately Dr Valladares is straight forward and lets you know what you need. At that office they seem caring and very understanding. Dr Valladares 305-631-5355. I recommend him. Now to wait for my paperwork to go in and hopefully get operated.

WOW....you're going on vacation for two months? Good for you. I'm guessing this will be your first vacation since your surgery so you be careful but have a wonderful time. You must st a teacher to have that kind of time off. Or maybe you're a stay at home mom and hubby is a teacher so off you go. Whatever the case, have a wonderful time and here's hoping you won't have a minute's problem while you're gone.

You're going to have to do what I did. I couldn't find a support group here in Jacksonville so I started one.
OH used to offer leader training but just to get together and chit chat about your surgery and be with people who are going thru the same things, I would think you could put a notice here on OH that you'll be at such and such a coffee shop on such and such a day at such and such a time. I had 15 people at my first meeting but I know others who have no one. You just keep posting and hang in there and pretty soon, you'll have others at the table.

Don't forget to click on the Plastic Surgeon "spot" on the top of the OH page. On my computer its in a green strip on the top right.
And I'd ask my bariatric surgeon. They have this question a lot, I'll bet, and can give you some good leads.
You can also google plastic surgeons in your area and start interviewing them. They shouldn't charge you for a consultation.
And, lastly, call your insurance company and ask who they have on the list. Not that you can claim this against the insurance but it may give you some other doctors to interview.
