Gas-X is for gases in your stomach & intestines only. The gas your experiencing is in the cavity of your body on the outside of your new pouch. Keep moving. Bend a little to reshift the gases but Walking is the best way to release these gases and any pains.

Hi everybody! Wanted to introduce myself. I had RNY a few days ago, on December 14th. I got home last night, and feeling good, except for gas pressure. Should I try gas-x to help relieve the pressure? I walk around, but the gas just wants to sit and aggrevate me!

Topic: HAPPY RE-BIRTHDAY TO ME
HAPPY SURGER-VERSARY TO ME!! 5 years ago today my life changed forever. I was given a new lease on life, became healthier and decided it was time to STOP!! I needed to think of my husband and children instead of myself and gastric bypass was the decision I made to do that. I knew it was a dangerous decision, but living the life I was living and being a slave to food was also very dangerous so I took that chance. I had my surgery done at Holy Cross Hospital in Ft Lauderdale and would attend support group meetings once a month.  I moved to Cleveland in 2008 and a year ago started up my own support group.

Now 5 years post op, I am healthy and feel the best I have felt in many years!! Here's to all my fellow bariatric friends - stay healthy and keep working the program because it works when you work it!! :)

So sorry about your hair loss.  I had VSG surgery two years ago and never had loss of hair.  I diligently kept my protein intake very high.  Drank protein shakes and any other protein I could get my hands on.  I still drink protein shakes everyday, because I crave them and I know they keep my levels up.  Good luck to you.

Thank you so much Kathy!! I'm very confident that this is the right choice for me. I'm getting a little more nervous as the surgery date approaches, but I know it's just normal jitters. I'm more excited than anything to get back to who I know I really am inside. I know this will change my life in a lot of ways, and I'm grateful for that! Congrats on your weight loss! Even at my thinnest, I was never a size 4! That's amazing! Kudos to you!!

Hi Amy

I'm new to Florida, but had my VSG Dec, 2008.  It's the best thing I did for myself.  You will have to go to dietary meetings for six months before your surgery.  This is reqired, as far as I know, for all weight loss surgeries for insurance companies.  The sleeve, in my opinion, is the best choice.  It's a whole new way of eating, actually not eating, that you will have to get used to.  Can't drink and eat at the same time anymore, but you get used to it, so no problem.  If I can be of any help to you, just let me know.  Good luck!!

Good luck on your pending VSG surgery.  I had that surgery Dec, 2008.  Have lost 115lbs and am now in a size 4.  Never thought I would say that.  It's the best thing I did for myself.  The EAS protein drink is the best tasting I have found out.  I still drink it everyday, but the chocolate flavor.  You can buy it at Sam's in a 5lb bag for 22.00.  Anyways good luck and I know you will love yourself more after surgery.
