Topic: Lightening Speed

OMG This is moving along faster than I thought, I have a few co workers that have recently well within the last year gotten either RnY or the band and their process has taken about 4 months and we all have the same insurance but with me this is not the case. With the 15 things that I have to do on my pre-op clearance checklist including info session 09-09-10, not including the insurance approval and surgery, I have pretty much scheduled all in September or completed all but 5 things GI consult, Endoscopy, Mental health clearance (they told me to call in on Friday 24th to make that appt), pre-op labs, and pre-op appt w/surgeon. I guess my biggest thing is making sure everyone is faxing over my results and letters, as they should. So my question is how long did it take you to get from start; info session to finish; surgery, and what were your hurdles, the worst appointments, how did you feel when you got it all accomplished, did you feel you were moving too fast or right on pace? Every piece of advice helps.

Just a note here.  Not all insurance carriers require one to go to a COE.  One can go to the Surgical Review Corporation's web site and search for hospitals and physicians who have the COE.  http://www.surgicalreview.org/locate.aspx

The American College of Surgeons also have a certification program.  This certification is equivalent to the COE (may even be a little more stringent).   http://www.acsbscn.org/Public/index.aspx

I tend to self edit a lot when I write, so I'm starting a video diary this weekend.  I plan to do it through the planning stages, surgery, recovery and maintenance.  Then maybe I'll cut clips of it together and have a little movie of my journey that shows the changes in my life and appearance.

LOL I knew that this particular journey I wanted in total writing so I could go back and reflect.  However, the ASS flavored Swallow Test Liquid ((I like your name for it)) is something I will NEVER forget LOL Seriously, it's not all that bad but yeah it's bad.

I've been reading your blog and I can't begin to tell you how much it's helping me that you've detailed the whole experience (down to the ass flavor swallow test liquid, LOL) from start to finish.  I feel so good about the idea of Dr. Murr doing my surgery.  Thanks!

I am truely sorry to hear about your friends wife.  You are so right about researching your surgeon.  I had my surgery done in Ocala by Dr. Jawad.  His office is a Center of Excellence.  Dr. Jawad is one of the top Bariatric Surgeons and as is his Center of Excellence.  I did alot of research before I chose Dr. Jawad, I wish your friend had done the same.
