I am pre band- wrk off 275/Westshore, Tampa but live near RT 19 in Clearwater. Right now standing still waiting for Dr. to send in paperwork to insurance. So pending my next move!

I'm in Tampa near MLK and 275. I work out daily over at Anytime Fitness on Kennedy. I had my RNY bypass on 3/5/09. I went from 6'3 1/2" 426lbs to 6'5" 176. I am currently at 200 after gaining muscle. It would be nice to hang out with others who have gone through this. I will tell you one thing, this surgery changes you for the beter in every way, not only physically, but emotionally and mentally as well. I am definitely not the same person I used to be. I am much more confident in myself and people recognize it. I am looked at as a leader instead of in disgust. I am married, but the surgery has had its toll on the marriage as well. I changed, she stayed the same. It would be nice to have someone to talk to who can really understand what I have gone through.

I 'm thinking that we could just meet here in Tarpon...see who else shows up..then if it is far away for some we could agree on another meeting place...what do ya think??

I also live in Tarpon Springs! Moved here from NC in March. I love living here! I work as the Bariatric Navigator at Tampa General Hospital, as well. Not too far to meet up with some other people in this general area. I drive to Tampa 5 days a week already anyway!

I live in South Hillsborough County (Ruskin) and I'm interested in meeting up with local folks. I am still the weight management portion required by my insurance. I'm in month 4 and my last appointment is the first week in January. I'm hoping to have my surgery late January or early Feb (if all goes well with my insurance). I would love to get together. Topic: Support Groups in Coral Springs area
Hi to my new bariatric family!!
My family and I just moved to Coral Springs from Long Island, NY about a month ago. I had gastric bypass on 2-5-10 by Dr. Lee in NY.
I am very anxious to find some support groups and get back to attending meetings. Any info to get me pointed in the right direction would be soooooo appreciated.
Thanks so much and look forward to meeting some new folks here in FL.

Thank you, young lady for your reply. One question, where are all the guys? We guys with diabetes know all about Ed. It an important subject that I am trying to get answers to. It may be embarrassing to some of us, but in age of open-minds we need to talk about these issues. I know many men would like someone to look into this subject. If any doctors have the answer I would love to hear from you too. What if the wives or girlfriends post a note, ladies help us to open-up. If vsg can help with this problem, sign me-up.
