Hi Melinda, Barbara Thompson is a gal who has had WLS losing 125 lbs. She also wrote a book Leight Loss Surgery: Finding the Thin Person Hiding Inside You. You may have seen her book posted on OH site. Hope she is as inspirational as Carnie! Carolyn

Hi Jesi, That would be tooooo much fun if you get to come The Marina Inn (which is also motel) is just right across the river from Sioux City. I think Janet & the gang will meet me & we'll go from there. Keep us posted if you & anyone else are coming & we'll plan from there. I saw Barb Thompson last fall after I had decided to have WLS. ( I am still pre op, at the time I was awaiting a consult, and was still researching) She is an awesome inspiration and if you can get to see her, by all means do so. She has 'been there, done that' and tells it like it is. I'm going to find out where the Marina Inn is and also try to attend. Sheila

Thanks Sheila! The Marina Inn is right across the river from Sioux City. It's beautiful at night looking out on the river. If you are familiar with Sioux City just go across the Vet's bridge & take a left at the lights. Real easy to find. Let us know if you are coming we can meet somewhere. Where is your town? Carolyn

SOrry I can't go. I bought this book and it became my BIBLE! I am a year post op on October 1st and I have lost 135 pounds. I started out at 410, so I am still well over 200 but I have decided that if I never lose any more weight, I could live with the me the way I am. I don't intend to, I'm just saying, I could live in size 22 jeans, as opposed to the sweat pants I was wearing (mens size 3X, 4X if I could find them!)(stretched tight at that!) a year ago!
