The night before my surgery follow up appointment I was pulling up the sheets in the bed and yanked on the drain!!!   That was the worst pain of the whole experience.  It felt so good when that thing came out! Have you had your drain taken out yet? That's the weirdest feeling!

Thanks and I'm happy to say my surgery did go well. I am still a little sore at the port site but it is getting better every day. I think Dr G is great too as well as his PA Angie and nurse Mary. Everybody at his office goes the extra mile.  Peace  Amy-jo

I have a friend who's an insurance agent and he said unless you're in almost perfect health, finding affordable private medical insurance is very difficult.  I had tried to get health insurance when I was self employed and was not able to be covered. You may just want to give a few different agents in the phone book a call and see what they recommend.

I don't have any suggestions, but I'll probably be in the same boat in the near future seeing as I'll be self employed in the next few years.  I'd be interested in knowing what you've found out or if you come up with a solution!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Shannon

Hi Stacey Thanks for the information. I would definatly like to make it out to the support group, usually they have been in the evenings and 96 miles away in which i cant get to because of hubby working, but saturday sounds like a great idea. I had Lapband surgery in May of his yr, i dont feel like im doing all that well. To be honest i wish i had gone RNY route but its to late now and i have to work with what i have got.I started with a very high BMI and high weight of 359 lbs, during my preop i got down to 333 but since i have had the band i have only got down to 320 as of today. My previus surgeon was to busy waiting 3 months for a fil was kind of crazy. My band has been to tight for the last 4 months, everything go stuck and ive been on a lot of liquid calories to fill me up. Today i had 1 cc taken out and it feels a lot better, ive ate 2 healthy small meals and feel full, so maybe this is the start of better things to come, fingers crossed. We moved to Iowa because my hubby got a job offer for a machining specialist at Vermeer, it was a great job opportunity and we are glad we made the decision to move. Before that he HAD to work away all week, we lived in south west MN and he worked 3 hours away in twin cities so he stayed at his dads second home  all week. There was no way we could afford the ridiculous rent costs up there. So after 20 months of being apart all week its great for the family to be back together, and of course the boys love having their daddy home everyday. So Far we love living in Pella, we have been here now about 10 weeks and so far so good. LOL sorry for the long response.  If you dont mind me asking what made you opt for lap bypass, rather than the band? I didnt even get a choice, i should have pushed for what i felt was better for me now i think about it. Well take care Donna

Hi Donna... Here 's the website   http://www.grmc.us/services/bariatric/index.html    They have support meetings the 4th sat. of every month right there at the hospital that are really informational and fun.  I usually try and make it. There isnt one in Dec. But there will be one in Jan.  Maybe we will meet! When did you have your surgery?  Doing good? What brought you to Iowa? Stacey
