Taking a quick straw poll.  How long were you off work?  And if so what type of surgery did you have? Thanks!

Lap RNY: I was off 2 full weeks and then worked 1/2 days for 3 days then went full time.  I wish I could have stayed off 3 - 4 full weeks because I was exhausted!  It takes a little while to get used to eating so differently and getting the water and exercise in after eating.   I also dehydrated that first week and had a UTI within days after surgery.

I had lap RNY. I was off for 7 work days not counting the weekends. I went back to just desk work after that, but didnt start back riding on the ambulance (due to the heavy lifting) for 6 wks.

I work sitting down all day.. I was off a month because I chose to be but I think Dr C said 5 days to 2 weeks...It took me longer to get past the GAWD... I need a nap stage...But then my thyroid is hypo and I get tired easy.. Linda Kay

I was off 4 weeks. I went back to work on Wednesday of the 3rd week. Worked on Thursday and had to leave early because I got so tired I could hardly move. Think it was from dehydration again. Can't get in enough fluids.

Thanks everyone.  Sounds like 4 weeks is average.  I can take off as long as needed, so it sounds like a "dont rush" thing.
