how my surgery went.
I still am in a lot of pain. My surgery was on Wed. the 23rd. When Dr. Evanson went in for the surgery ,he had to do other work we didn't know about. I had hildle(sp) hernia he had to fix, and ALOT of scar tissue he had to remove. So that was a shock to me. I haven't gotten my fuilds in or proteins in one day yet. It is so hard!!! I never in my life would have ever imagined that I have to force myself to eat and drink. Well I was wondering if this is normal, and does it get easier? Oh and I was/ am shocked how hard it is to take a pill.

I hope your recovery is a speedy one! Iam not sceduled till June 10th so I dont have any experience but I am sending good thoughts you way.

Glad that your surgery went well. I too had a lot of scar tissue that needed to be removed and was in surgery for 3 hours and another 4 in recovery to deal with the pain. Yes, it will get better. It took me awhile to get over the pain issue due to all the brusing from removing the scar tissue. Eating and drinking will get better too. It took me a few weeks to get into a routine and start eating and drinking regularly. Hope that you are feeling better soon. It will get better!
It will get better. You may have to deal with the pain a little longer then someone that just has the RNY because of the extra stuff they had to do.
As far as the eating and drinking go...sip, sip, sip! Dont try to take big drinks. Use a sippie cup.
You have swelling in your stomach to from the work they done so once that goes down it will be easier. You will find a routine that works for you. Hang in there!
Wendy, I'm sorry you're still in so much pain!! I know on Friday you had mentioned a lot of pain still, I was hoping it would have eased for you now. I have a hernia too, but I don't think he fixed it...my husband said Dr E said something about waiting until I've lost my weight. Anyway, it is VERY hard to get your fluids in, especially when your tummy is so sore. I have yet to eat 2 ounces at a meal, 1 ounce is my max. Fluids, I'm lucky to get the minimum 64 ounces in, and as of today I'm trying to find a new protein option, the milk/nonfat dry milk combo did not agree with my poor system.
What pain meds did they give you, and what pills are you having a hard time taking? I got Percocet, and I use a pill cutter to split each one into fourths...it's the only way I can get it down.
Yes, you are going to be in pain a lot longer then others because of all the internal work that was done removing all that scar tissue. Hard to believe tomorrow will be a week already!!
