Today is my 35th Birthday...sigh

Hi everyone....I am a newbie to the board and mainly a lurker.  I have just started the process to be approved for rny. 

Today is my 35th birthday and I so need a change.  We went to a restaurant tonight...It was a beautiful night and we sat outside.  I could see my reflection in the window and couldn't enjoy dinner at all.  I need something to change this year......  Hopefully next year will be a new me.    I need it to me a new me.......

Welcome, Dani!  Happy Birthday!  I was also 35 when I decided to have surgery, and was only a few weeks into 36 when I finally got it done.  If you truly believe that surgery is the right option for you, then I'm confident you'll be successful.  You're starting off your 35th year the right way ... this will be the year you start feeling better and getting healthier!

Hi Dani happy birthday! I would like to welcome you to our board! This is a great place to get and give information. Who is going to be your surgeon? It would be helpful to you if you were to go to the support group in your area. I am sure you would learn alot from the people that attend.   You told what made you think that you should get a RNY here is the reason for me. In 2001 my best friend died and it took a real toll on me. She was over weight such as myself and died in her sleep. The doctor was aware that she was not feeling well and had a treadmill set up. Well she wound up not being able to go because she got a bad cold and the next day or two after seeing the doctor for treatment of this cold she died! Well this was my wake up call! I have been fighting the insurance companies every since and just got approved!   The moral of the story is if you want something bad enough you don't give up! So good Luck to you! Michelle

Happy Birthday!  I know EXACTLY what you meant by seeing your own reflection and not being able to enjoy yourself... I hate seeing what I actually look like, because I don't think that I look at bad as I do, but when I catch my reflection!  YIKES!  It scares me that I'm gotten so HUGE!   I am 35 too and just got my RNY surgery on April 15th!  I'm already down 37 pounds and FEEL wonderful... no complications and no throwing up/diarrea ... my only symptom if I overeat or eat something I shouldn't is I get REALLY hot and feel kinda sick, but it only lasts 15 mins tops....   If you have any questions, just post them, everyone on this board is BRILLIANT!  Anna

I can totally understand the whole not likeing yourself, I'm going through the same thing!!! If you ever need to talk, I'm here!!! I too am going through the who approval process, actually just found out my insurance excludes WLS!! =',{ So I'm working on some type of insurance, hopefully next year we'll be on the loosers bench with everyone else!!!  ps.....
