protein question

OK, I would like to know but don't know where to research it how many grams of protein our bodies can digest and absorpb in a single comsumption. I already know that a person needs approximately 1/2 of your body weight in grams as a good round estimate  for a days normal protein requirement. I know that the dieticians and nuts want us to have at least 75 grams a day but can 40-60 of that be in one sitting. I know that calcium has to be taken over a period of time in order for it to be all absorpbed and all 1500 can't be taken at the same time because the excess just leaves the body.

VERY Good question.. But I know they make Bullets with protien liquid with 42 grams of protien you can drink straight. within about a half hour if sipped. They are coming up with all kinds of ways to get our protien in like the shakes they have us drink when we are first out of surgery.. seems to me if there would be a limit they would have told us.. But your right it makes sense.  Research and questions!!! Thank God for research and questions!! Linda Kay

Hi, Due to my recent struggle, I called the Nut. and she told me to have my protien broken down to the following-  atleast10 grams at breakfast ( you are breaking a fast-duh)20-40 grams at lunch, and 15-20 grams at supper, plus 15-20 grams for "snack"- total for me- 75-80 grams per day. She did say I can do a protien shake, just make sure to sip it, (not gulp- as I had been doing), making sure it has atleast 15g. of protien per serving. Also, be sure to have your protien FIRST- it does matter! I am 2 + yrs. out, so  THE PROTIEN LEVEL IS FOR MY PERSONAL JOURNEY.Any of the low-carb protien shakes should work, just be sure to read the labels, & sip!  I have flax seed in my yogurt for breakfast, since I have bowel problems, and then a 4 oz.  shake mid day,4oz. pro.lunch, & 4-6 oz. meat ( mostly fish/pork/ground meat) for supper & a shake for my late night snack- or another yogurt.Kind of boring but it works for me.  Calcium must be taken 3 x. day, since it breaks down in your systum slowly, and don't forget your B1, & vitamens. the vitamens can be taken at the same time- chewable! Don't know if this helps you much, but thought I'd share. Check with your Nut. anytime you are having problems, need ideas/encouragement- that is what they are there for!
