My lap band surgery is March 12!!  Cant believe it is so soon!  I am so excited.

I have to start a pre-op diet on Feb. 26, two protien shakes a day and a low carb dinner....anyone have any suggestions on a good high-protien shake??  I need ideas for ready to drink and a powder...I am going to Vegas on March 5 and will be there for 4 days.  Since I cant take liquids on an airplane and dont want to search for a store in Vegas I will need some powder to stick in my suitcase.

Thanks to everyone for all your help and advice!!

Congratulations Mandy!!!

The protein powders are such a personal preference.  And what I like before surgery (i had lapRNY though) is totally different than what I like after surgery.  I love the Max Chocolate protein powder.  I get it at GNC.  It tastes like a chocolate milkshake to me.  I mix it with water and a few ice cubes and I am a happy camper.  My advice would be to get some samples and go from there. Isopure has some great ready to drink stuff.  I love my Special K powder that I add to my water.  It has protein in it too.

Look forward to hearing more from you!!
Blessings to you all, Leah

Congrats on your surgery date.  I use slim-fast shakes for my protein shakes most of the time.  They aren't great but they are not all that bad.  Its hard to say what you will like.  Unjury has protein powders in packets you can get as samples to try.  They are pretty quick to ship them too.

Good luck and enjoy your trip.

Huge hugs,
Tracy

Thanks for the ideas...I have ordered some samples of unjury to try.  From the looks of the testimonials on this site about Unjury, more people like it than not...I just want to be sure I find something I can tolerate before I have to live on it for weeks!!  Thanks so much for your support.

Congrats on the surgery date. I can tell you that I didn't care for Unjury and the only protein I've found that I can tolerate is Nectar. It's more of a fruity drink vs the other milky powders. Whatever you find, realize you may not like it after surgery. You can get samples of Nectar from www.vitalady.com. I prefer the lemonade and the fuzzy navel.

Congratulations on your date.  I agree with Melissa.  What you can tolerate now may not be what you can tolerate after your surgery, so you would be wise to not stock up on anything ahead of time.  Your turmmy will have a mind of it's own after your surgery.  But for something short term, like Vegas, these suggestions will do fine.

hugs and blessings,

Kathy
