My surgery is friday, so tomorrow I'm going to go to the grocery for one final time. When I get home, I want the kitchen to be stocked up on clear liquid & full liquid things I can eat for a couple weeks. Any suggestions on what I should look for? Post-ops, what did you like and/or tolerate the best?

After surgery, I lived on Carnation Instant Breakfast (no sugar added), sugar free jello, pudding, cream soups and tomato soup, broth, popsicles, and yogurt. Good luck with your surgery. You will do great! Sara

I didn't do the Carnation, but I did all the others. I didn't like the broths or the bulliion!! So, I got REAL chicken noodle soup and drank it and gave the noodles to my hubby... ha ha Or, whoever was standing by at the time. ha ha I also ate applesauce (100% Natural), and No Sugar Added Fudgescicles. Hot tea and coffee were good also. I like the crystal light drinks too. My favorites are Lemonade and Grape. But, they have some new flavors out now, too, that I haven't had yet. However, I didn't do much except the protein shakes and water the first week and 1/2. I just didn't have an appetite. I am 6 1/2 weeks out and have lost 32 lbs. I lost 21 my first two weeks!! The doc says he wants me to slow down on the loss and lose only one pound a week now. But, I have lost two this past week. I just don't have any energy and no appetite. Not sure what's going on. But, I do try to eat, I just get nauseous. And, I'm back to phase 2. I can't eat hardly anything but liquids and soft foods. I had my band filled last Thursday for the first time. I'm sure things will get better soon. Good luck to you! I will send up a prayer for you. Hugs, Sharee

The first week after surgery was basically broth, sf popsicles and ice water. I didn't like any "tastes" the first week. I was thirsty, so crunching ice was good. The warm broth was soothing. The popsicles were good to have something for my mind - not my tummy. You may want to bring in some yogurt, cottage cheese and eggs in case you want something a little more substantial. Of course, have your protein drinks and crystal light. I am four weeks out and don't eat much differently from the above except pintos and cheese and occassionally some tuna or chicken (finely chopped up). You find that you aren't very hungry and the above items sit well on your tummy. Some things will make you nauseous, so stay away from them for a while. Good luck with your surgery - I know you have been wanting it for a while. I will pray for you and can't wait to hear from you next week when you feel like posting again. Take care of yourself and remember to walk, walk, walk! - Ginger
