MEDICAID AND MEDICARE SURGEONS LIST!

Yes, I am going through the 6mo diet right now. I haven't had my surgery and probably won't until Sept-Oct. My diet will b completed sometimes in Sept, and who knows how long it will b b4 all the paperwork gets turned in and Dr. Argotte will actually b able to do the surgery. I heard if it is a medical necessity then it won't take long to get approved, plus if you already have the 6mo diet in hand, u don't have to worry about that either. So, go ahead and start ur 6mo diet now, and shouldn't be too long.:)

Man, I was hoping to be able to get out of the whole 6 month diet thing.  Crap!

Dr. Dana P Edwards in Manchester, KY takes medicaid I do know. You do have to do the 6 month diet. Also you have a do a bunch of other stuff too to see if if is medically necessary. You have to pay for a few things yourself. Psych Evaluation and Pre Diet and maybe even Dietition. The closest and cheapest Psych Eval is in Somerset for $175. Pre Diet stuff all costs $111.50 and the Dietition is $60.
Just remember you have to get monthly adjustments usually and the closest to you will be more conveinent.

At this time, Medicare does not require 6 months of physician supervised medical weight management. Typically, Medicaid and Passport do require 6 months of physician supervised medical weight management. Norton Healthcare's Bariatric Program (Bariatric Center) does not require this. It is a requirement of your insurance provider!

Medicare patients must have surgery at a Bariatric Center of Excellence. Norton Suburban Hospital and Norton Hospital are Centers of Excellence. The surgeons in this program under Center of Excellence are Dr. Geller, Dr. Shina, Dr. Allen, Dr. Rodriguez. Dr. Tanner's addition to the list is pending.

I believe that all of the Norton Healthcare surgeons accept Passport. The following Norton Healthcare surgeons accept Medicaid:  Dr. Allen, Dr. Rodriguez, Dr. Larson, Dr. Tanner, Dr. Kehdy.

Hello:) I am curious if anyone has used Ky Medicaid to recieve surgery in Nashville,Tn? I am moving to Bowling Green, Ky. and I am POSITIVE I will qualify for surgery. I just need to find a PCP who will approve me and a safe, good doctor to see. Any help would be appreciated....Thank you!!

i live right outside bowling green and have been trying to find a nashville dr.  none of the major hospitals will accept the ky medicaid for wls.  however the norton bariatric clinic in louisville ky does. i am attending a seminar there 10/16.  you may want to consider calling them.  good luck

Thank you...I have actually talked with Lori from Dr. Husted's office in Somerset and from my understanding he also accepts Medicaid. I am sending in my packet tomorrow! If that doesn't work, i'll consider Norton. Good Luck to you also:)

hi, i live in todd county ky and have ky medicaid..none of the hospitals in nashville accept the ky medicaid for the RNY..i really wanted to have my surgery done there..it was really close to me and the area has great drs..i was really upset after all my research....but there is a light at the end of the tunnel..the hospital in paducah ky takes it and so does Nortons in louisville...i have done my 6 mth weight loss and am scheduled to have my surgery on 7/23/09..my dr is dr. tanner and he is great..you should really look that way...good luck on your journey
