BAND QUESTION? Which one do I choose?

I am a bit confused about all the band sizes I keep hearing about.. someone saying they have a 9cc band, someone else an 11cc...etc...  are there different sizes and how do I choose? The Dr gave me the choice between two types? Which one do you all have? Thanks, Sandi

Dr.Shina chose my band SIZE, by looking at my anatomy... as for the choice between realize and the APbands, I think they are the same just difference in the ports.. ask on the lapband board.. I think the realize has a lower profile port,.. good luck!!!! Dawn

If you go with Dr Allen...he only does the 14cc band now. I asked him the same question...has he changed this? I have the 14cc and so did everyone else that had surgery with me that day...there were 4 others.

 ("It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood")  When I had my surgery with Dr. Allen in April, I asked him right before I went into surgery which band he was going to use.  He said he could use either the one he had been using or he could give me the Realize band- that it was my choice.  After a brief discussion of the two, I turned down the Realize band.  I honestly do not have a handle on all the different sizes and brands, but when I heard the word "erosion" in the same sentence as the Realize band, I took the road more traveled.  I go back to Dr. Allen next week, supposedly for a fill.  He said last month that if I was doing well, he may not do a fill this time. Since, I am doing well without it,  I have mixed feelings about getting a fill right before DH and I go on a road trip.  Hopefully next week I can learn more about this Band of mine. Believe it or not, I said all this to say that Dr. Allen evidently does more than 1 type & size of band.  Just my two cents.  Best of luck to you, Sandi!

I sure wish he would have told me I had band size options...definitely not happy with mine...at all. Let me know what you find out Jeanie...how many cc does yours hold?

I had my band put in over 18 months ago and the Realize band was not out then, I do believe.  I don't know much about it.  Can someone give me some info on it?  Thanks.

Well he didn't give me a choice of "size" just of Brand.. the Realize Ethicon...and the Allergen.... thanks Ladies, i've just seen on the board all the different sizes!!!
