Topic: RE: How do I GAIN weight??
Hi Nancy,
Thanks for the kind words.  In my avatar I weighed 140-145 and worked out with weights 3 times a week.  I have been back to doing that for the past 2 weeks. But I still have NO fat on my body. As I said, I eat 2500 calaories a day and can't gain a pound.  I would like to put back on about 25 lbs, and like you I never had that problem before. I never thought it would be so hard to put weight ON.  BTW I see you used Dr. Steiner.  Dr. Newton started my surgery the night I was sent to St. Joe's for my rupture, but he called in Dr. Steiner because it was so bad.  Dr. Steiner is a great doctor with a lot of passion for his patients.

Thanks again,
Brenda

Topic: RE: OT: Thinking of Moving to Kentucky From Calif.
Hi,
I'm actually from the other end of the state, but now live in Central KY.  The storms you encountered were pretty much a freak situation.  Some areas might be more prone to flooding, but by and large that thing was WAY out of the norm.  Here we got something like 7in of rain and it was a mess.
I can't tell you much about the doctors in that area, but if you were to move closer to either Louisville or Lexington you would have plenty of choices.  Totally a guess, but I think being so close to Nashville, Vanderbilt and other hospitals in TN would be an option from B.G.  I think Jean M. on the LapBand board sees a doctor there, so you might PM her.
Good luck if you decide to move here.  My husband was stationed all over the place and when he got out of the military we came back here for the same reasons you are thinking of moving.  Good luck!

Hi Brenda,
Sorry I don't have any advise on how to gain (never had that problem!) but I do want to say that I am sorry you have had such a rough year!  I can't imagine how the conversation went with your friend, but I would feel the same way if someone said that to me.  You look great in your avatar though!
Have you thought about doing some weight exercises to tone up?  Not sure what your health situation is, but maybe that would help put on weight or at least make you feel a little better?

Topic: RE: Revision Surgery
I volunteer at our Bariatric center and we get several patients that come in for revisions and they are call a BOB   band over bypass.   They seem to be success with this type procedure, however with CIGNA you have to use certain hospitals so you need first of all check with CIGNA to see which hospitals in your area are approved and then seek a Dr. that is willing to do revisions

Topic: How do I GAIN weight??
Hello everyone,
I have been on here keeping up with everyone and am happy to hear so much good news.  First of all "Congrats Leslie".  I am so happy for you.  My question for all my friends is how do I gain weight?  I am at 119 and have been asked  many times if I am anorexic, which makes me very sad.  As many of you know, I lost my husband this past Nov. and went into a downhill spiral.  I got ulcers in my pouch and intestines.  By Feb.12th the ulcer had completely eaten away my pouch.  I underwent 5 1/2 hours of surgery by 2 surgeons and almost didn't make it.  That day I weighed 104.  I am now at 115 lbs, but can't, even eating 2500 calories a day, put or keep weight on.  The doctors are no help so I was hoping that one of our wise friends on here could give me some suggestions.  I am willing to try anything.  I am so sad and upset about being this thin, mostly because this week I was told by a male friend I hadn't seen in 3 years, that I wasn't as attractive since I lost weight. :(  In other words, "You look old and ugly" , my words, but probably his thoughts at the moment....:(  Please help.

Do you know if it would cover gall bladder surgery post WLS? I didn't find out until after my gall bladder went capput 2 months post-op that it is quite common for most people to have to have their gall bladder out post WLS. Something to check out.

I went to a seminar that Dr. Oldham had back in 2008, just prior to my surgery with BBSA and he explained it as something that they automatically have, at that time.  Of course that $500 program fee they have is nothing more than padding their pockets, it doesn't do a thing for you and you get nothing from it.  I am thankful to Dr. Weiss for my surgery, but I am certainly much more happy since I changed doctors and actually have a doctor do my follow ups.

it sounds like things have changed. I am pretty sure that BLIS used to be a thing that a self-pay patient was forced to take if the surgeon participated. That is a much better deal that the patient can customize their insurance/costs to meet their needs.

Hey Kgb. I am too will be going self pay,and when i spoke to a specialist, she informed me you do not have to have coverage,it is up to you. Blis is like a warranty if something happens and you have complications that can opt to have cover or not. I would call kimbliss if I were you and she can thoroughly explain it to you better, and answer any questions you may have. She helped me greatly in this process. Her number is 1-775-685-6475. Hope this helps. Hope everything works out.
